Re: Will Region 1 DVDs rip?

Got a Matshushita on my 1 year old Mac. Guess it's a no for me. You have two options: either an external drive as suggested (I use a Buffalo Blu-Ray drive on my iMac, so I can kill two birds with one stone), or your other option is to reflash your Mac drive. Search for "RPC1 Mac" on...

Does this GUI downsample 24-bit PCM to 16-bit FLAC? I've tried Staxrip (which doesn't downsample) bit it's a bit of a pig to use, I think.

Re: Which audio track(s) to rip off blu ray?

Not sure that I'd take audio from the TV. I would look at getting the audio direct from the Mac Mini to the amplifier, depending upon what inputs you've got on that. What amp is it?

Optical will not support the higher bit rate audio.

Re: Which audio track(s) to rip off blu ray?

Not a silly question at all. The answer is that it entirely depends what your equipment can handle. Some media players can't deal with HD material, therefore you might want to rip other audio tracks alongside it to allow for this. For future proofing I would always rip the highest quality track that...

The experts will know exactly, but I've had two different GT discs fail on me. Bad pressing.

Re: Problematic HD-DVDs

You know, I actually find this remark offensive. This is the MakeMKV beta forum. Its purpose is to identify flaws in MakeMKV, in order to improve the program. When somebody reports a valid problem, you don't tell them to sod off and use another program. That said - I didn't know ClownBD was able to...

Re: Bluray disc Galapagos BBC not ripping correctly

My guess is that the video is 1080i, same as the HDDVD version.

Try using VLC's Codec info on the file and see what readings you get for the video stream. If it's 1080i then the file is fine, the problem is that VLC can't play 1080i.

Re: Ripping DTS-HD and True-HD to LPCM

EDIT : also noticed that if a switch the player to output pcm it sounds better so am wonderingnow if it will not output DTS-HD as such but will via LPCM. Is there a test that will determine if hd audio is coming over pcm? What player is it? Some will convert DTS-HD to LPCM. My Dune does, for exampl...

Re: Guide to convert PGS subtitles to idx/sub subtitles in o

I couldn't get BDSup2sub.jar 4.0 to work on my Mac (running Lion). It told me the file was corrupted. The previous version works fine, though.

Indeed, and this is 16 revisions ago.

Mind you, the revision history will not tell the whole story, which is why I ask the question.

Re: Guide to convert PGS subtitles to idx/sub subtitles in o

You should try a programme called iMKVExtract (an MKVExtract GUI), very quick at extracting chapter files (so I can add the actual names of the chapters of the DVD if they exist) and subtitle files from MKVs.

Re: Problematic HD-DVDs

Is it possible for Mike or setarip_old to let us know whether it's useful for us to continue posting HD-DVD problem disks? Are there any of these disks where the new versions of MakeMKV have enabled them to be ripped safely? I only ask as I do have some (not many) disks that in the past I've been un...

Re: Tutorials

Stacman, Since you've been encoding video for so long, perhaps you should try just playing with MakeMKV to start with rather than expecting to be spoon-fed? MakeMKV is one of the simplest programmes I can think of, you really shouldn't get stuck. Load a disk and then press the big button in the midd...
