Re: Incorrect aspect ratio on certain DVD
Trying to make an MKV from a DVD with an aspect ratio 2.35:1 makemkv produces standard DVD of 720:576. I get the same results if I rip the MPEG to the hard drive. DVDPatcher will not work directly on the DVD. I can patch the ripped MPEG stream but makemkv will not convert MPEGS. DVDPatcher will not...

Re: Incorrect aspect ratio on certain DVD
Thanks I had already found that thread. Just not sure how to go about re-encoding if that is the work around. The workaround is "patching" the MPEG2 stream with DVDPatcher, which does NOT reencode it, it just resets the aspect ratio in the file header. It works perfectly and only takes ab...

Re: Chapter and aspect ratio issues with certain DVD's
Would it be possible for you to add the functionality of DVDPatcher to MakeMKV - ie, just right click on the MPEG2 video source in the GUI and something like "set aspect ratio to 16:9), then do the patching on the fly as you mux it? This is quite possible, request noted. Thank you Mike, that w...

Re: Chapter and aspect ratio issues with certain DVD's
I am having this problem on a *number* of discs from the Warner Archive Collection (with the bad aspect ratio, where Widescreen 16:9 movies are encoded on the disc with 4:3 aspect ratio, but display correctly when played as a DVD and have the wrong A/R as a .mkv). Would it be possible for you to add...

Re: 0 Titles Saved - The Lone Gunmen NTSC R1
Nope. Because I stand by my original opinion - MakeMKV is doing something fundamentally wrong if it can't extract simple MPEG2 video and AC3 audio and remux it from unencrypted discs, like any number of other tools can. There's nothing tricky about doing that, the techniques are well documented, and...

Re: 0 Titles Saved - The Lone Gunmen NTSC R1
I'll just use MKVMerge GUI instead - it works and MakeMKV doesn't...
BTW, DVDFab 8's "MKV remux" feature also has no issue with these discs.
Whatever MakeMKV is doing, it's doing it wrong if it can't process simple unencrypted discs that other tools can...

I get errors on most of the episodes in this set, they fail to save. Once MakeMKV starts, it reads the file at <1x (0.1x, 0.2x), I hear the harddrive chunking for several seconds then it says 0 titles saved, 3 errors or however many episodes are on the disc. On some of the discs (6 disc set) it save...
