Since I installed this file manually how often is the KEYDB.cfg updated and how often do I download it and replace the previous file?

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
Out of ideas, so try this ? External to MakeMKV, but hey, if it works... Download KEYDB.cfg to your MakeMKV data directory... (there is mention, somewhere, that the case of the filename matters IIRC. YMMV) windows default is: %UserProfile%\.MakeMKV unless modified by user from: Preferences > Genera...

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
This is very disappointing that I haven't been able to get the HK data to download. It keeps failing. I'm confident that MakeMKV has access thru my firewall. I'm using Cloudfare for DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.1.0.0). I have spent the better part of 2 hours bouncing my VPN around the world and no joy. This i...

Could a recent Windows 11 update be causing my MakeMKV problem?

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
Some very good thoughts here. Thanks. Hi there. I've got a weird problem, too. I wanted to try the newer hardware on my Laptop for AV1 encoding, but makemkv was not able to decrypt the Oppenheimer 4k disc and gave me a dump file. So I sent the dump and tried again today to no avail. I also used a po...

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
@segfaulted seems to think the domain has changed but the IP is the same? I haven't analyzed traffic, so I'm not in a position to dispute that, but I'm dubious. The 'hosts' mod is only valid if you KNOW the current domain & associate the IP. My router is configured for SmartDNS (CloudFlare/Quad...

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
Just for the heck of it I put 185.84.108.20 in a browser and this is what came up. 403 Доступ запрещен Если Вы владелец сайта, дополнительную информацию Вы можете узнать по e‑mail support@majordomo.ru In English: 403 Access is prohibited If you are the owner of the site, you can find out more inform...

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
I've tried all the suggested advice and fixes. No joy in getting the 4K disk to decode for ripping. I would think the 4K disks shown below are old enough and should have keys for decoding. What part of the .tgz folder should I submit in the future to request new HK keys? Here are log files from two ...

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
I wonder if your drive is doing what two of mine did. Mine just stopped being able to rip UHD disks over time, sometime after 200 rips. Happened with both of my WH16NS60 drives. They both can rip DVDs and Blu-rays, just not UHD. My BP50NB40 and BP60NB10 drives work fine with UHD disks. Can you post...

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
nslookup on either domain (hkdata.crabdance.com / hkdata.fairuse.org) reports non-existent for me, so the intel in that thread is likely old news. Rather than using automatically assigned (ISP) DNS servers, try: - setting DNS to 8.8.8.8 (google) & 1.1.1.1 (cloudflare) - remove 'hosts' entries (...

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
Thank you for your help. Let me know if there is anything else I can provide. I have 2 .tgz zip folders from movie failures as well. ... but I don't see any specifics about the failure. It would be very helpful if you could copy/paste the MakeMKV output... from the bottom pane starting w/: MakeMKV v...

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
It could be a DNS issue. Have you tried manually adding the hkdata domains to your system's hosts file? See this: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=141837#p141837 Yes I followed the instructions in reference topic. MakeMKV still fails on a 4K disk. My DNS server assignment in Win 11 P...

Re: Ripping 4K UHD Disks
I'm using an ASUS BW-16D 1HT internal player. Just wondering if there has been an update to the firmware my drive uses and could this be the problem. This is what my drive's internal info looks like: Drive Information OS device name: L: Manufacturer: ASUS Product: BW-16D1HT Revision: 3.10 Serial num...
