Re: Lost registration key
Been there, done that ! Not sure if this helps or not, but I bought mine back in 2010 through Avangate BV. The receipt for from Avangate was emailed to me (you may still have it in your inbox), and amongst the terms, it recommended that I could: "Access a list of your purchases via Avangate, do...

Re: Package Repository for openSUSE and Fedora
Excellent use of the OBS! - And a big thank you! Perhaps this'll help those that wish to transition from "Build Your Own Packages" from source tar.gz to the handy-dandy pre-built OBS repositories... For my openSuSE 12.1 MakeMKV installation, the following did the job to "uninstall&quo...

Re: Am I missing Closed Captions with 2.6.3 ??
MakeMKV presently can't extract closed captions. Well, that statement is pretty clear!! Reassuring to know it wasn't just my stupidity !! I hope the implication of "present" in that statement is that it'll perhaps appear in a future release !! On a similar note, if I MakeMKV > HandBrake (...

Re: Fox & Hound DVD bogged in a cell loop...
Most interesting, I had no idea that DVDFab had such a humble and open existence. I always thought the name was a little daft too... Regardless of the side of the coin, the product is obtuse and confusing to me !! Glad I went with the simple and aptly named MakeMKV !! I'll get those IFO's tomorrow e...

Re: Am I missing Closed Captions with 2.6.3 ??
Good question - I'm not sure what the stream-type is for the DVD's closed-captions. Wiki is your friend here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed_captioning (under DVD)... From what I understand, closed-captions are stored as data in the MPEG-2 video stream. For storage in the MKV output, I'd assume...

Am I missing Closed Captions with 2.6.3 ??
Is there a way to extract the closed-caption data from the DVD into the MKV ? My wife is hard of hearing so the closed-captions are really helpful... Right now I only seem to get the VOBSub streams in the MKV.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Fox & Hound DVD bogged in a cell loop...
MKV is not a "conversion", it is a container type (like AVI MP4 etc). In terms of the supplied metric measures for this particular DVD, no conversions were performed. DVDFab is a "more capable" application in that it provides a wide range of copy/re-encode/format-conversion/trans...

Re: Fox & Hound DVD bogged in a cell loop...
Times were measured on the same machine/HDD/DVD/DVD-drive/DVD-data (note that DVDFab may actually be faster in a native MS Windows session as the DVDFab times were collected under Linux's WINE). Time was collected for each application in 2 distinct stages: 1) Initial DVD analysis 2) DVD data copy Ma...

Re: Fox & Hound DVD bogged in a cell loop...
Indeed a working MKV is the measure of success !! I thought a little data could improve MakeMKV's "detection algorithm". You're comparing the proverbial apples and oranges - Not really, both applications traverse thru similar DVD content/encoding to determine how to unwind the frames/data ...

Re: How-2 Install MakeMKV for non-Debian Linux (openSuSE)
Hiya Skittle, The forum's linux installation instructions currently call for pre-installation configuration of the build environment as: sudo apt-get install build-essential libc6-dev libssl-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libqt4-dev both the "apt-get" tool as well as most of the referenced "requ...
