Spawn 3 Animated Fails Backup (MKV fine)
I can use "makemkv" or "makemkvcon64 mkv" in windows (or linux) to make an MKV of the single title listed. The "Backup" function from both programs fail. There are no problems reading the disk. After scanning the disk with makemkv*, I can use ddrescue (in linux) to make...

Re: Read error help please
What I would do in this situation, is make an image of the disk (ignoring errors) and use VLC to play the ISO. That way you have a digital copy is some form. I do this under Linux with ddrescue. Note, for some disks this can take up to a week (!!) or more to complete. With a map file though, the cop...

It can play fine and still fail in MakeMKV. Certainly seems like the drive is having a problem reading that disk, i.e. hardware error causing MakeMKV to fail.

Re: V for Vendetta Dump submitted
Mine worked without a problem but it identified two titles each of 67GB. Does anyone know if title 00 or 05 is the correct one? This is the USA WB UHD Bluray release. Thanks! See the FAQ for "Which playlist do I choose?" https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24388 Most o...

Re: ILLEGAL REQUEST:READ OF SCRAMBLED SECTOR
Old Thread, I know. But I have a fix that isn't mentioned here. I see this on occasion while using makemkvcon64 under Windows on DVD's. The specific case I am addressing is when you see this during disc scanning and the sector always seems to be 1048576. I agree with prior poster that this is a nuis...

Re: Drive Partial failure - Returns bad sectors as good - DVD
I probably should have also mentioned, I'm working under Linux. I was focused on the hardware side and neglected to mention that. I've read that the DVD library can also ignore errors. I might be wrong but my recollection is that MakeMKV doesn’t utilise any external libraries for reading DVDs or Bl...

Celltrim for DVD Backup?
I have a disk that fails to open for CellWalk. I can open the disk with CellTrim and make MKV files. But I have been saving all my DVD's using "backup". ISO's can be navigated to and run under Kodi. Using "backup" mode seems to only try CellWalk. Changing in preferences doesn't m...

Re: Recommendation for best (most reliable and versatile) LibreDrive for 2024?
Can I get a PM? US. For 5.25 enclosure. OWC Mercury Pro, Vantec NexStar DX2, Vantec 536S3 I was too terse. I was looking for drive recommendation to go into an enclosure that I already have. I had a bad experience with OWC. Mine went bad in roughly about a year. Replaced with Vantec and it i...

I probably should have also mentioned, I'm working under Linux. I was focused on the hardware side and neglected to mention that. I've read that the DVD library can also ignore errors. So it might not have been a jamless feature. Regardless, I do have a bad drive. I have a disk that consistently com...

Re: Drive Partial failure - Returns bad sectors as good - DVD
Sounds Legit. So it could be a dirty lens, misalignment, or any number of issues causing a bad read, but LG just returns the junk with no error.

Drive Partial failure - Returns bad sectors as good - DVD
I have two LG WH16NS40 Rev 1.02 drives. I have been backing up a pile of DVD's (makemkcon --noscan --decrypt disc:0 out.iso). This has been working for a couple days. However, one drive has been returning a good backup status (Backup done x 2) , but makes a bad backup image. Mounting the image and a...

[Fixed] Doctor Who: The Three Doctors Special Edition Disk 2
When I received the error, I thought bad disk. But I used ddrescue to image disk and it completed 100% copied. MakeMKV also fails on the image. VLC plays image and physical disk fine. ----------------------------------------------- Drive Information OS device name: /dev/sr0 Current profile: DVD-ROM ...
