Re: Some 16:9 scenes are being sliced down to 2.35:1
Thanks for your input! I'm also compressing the original MKV with Handbrake and keeping it on a Plex server (which exhibits the same problem). Should I disable cropping in the Handbrake settings (if Handbrake supports switching aspects at all) to set it into 16x9 for the whole movie? I'm unsure abou...

Re: Pioneer BDR-XS07TS rips only with 2X
Hi folks, using makemkv 1.15.2 my shiny new Pioneer BDR-XS07TS rips a DL BR only with a constant 8.5 MByte/sec (2X). This is pretty disappointing. According to the specs it should reach 4X at least. My old LG drive BP06LU10 rips with 11.2 MByte/sec up to 20 MByte/sec (4.6X). And it has only USB 2.0...

Re: Linux /snap install
Not sure how well this would work, but you could try creating a symlink from /data1 to some subdirectory in your user folder. There might be restrictions on how the drive can be formatted, though. I also think you can install makemkv via apt-get if you run sudo add-apt-repository ppa:heyarje/makemkv...

Re: Blu-ray : saved file is huge
In my experience (for live-action movies at least) is that a quality of 20 in Handbrake generally reduces filesizes down to 10GB or so (around 10mbps) without a loss of quality that's too noticeable. If you pause the video and get your face up next to the TV you can definitely see the chunky edges, ...

Re: Point makemkv to java
In fact, I made a tutorial for this just yesterday for Linux. Here's how to make MakeMKV use the correct Java version Download Java 8 for "Linux x64" (I'm using Linux, so if you're on Windows or Mac YMMV). Note: Use the official Java runtime--I've had issues getting MakeMKV to work with Op...

Some 16:9 scenes are being sliced down to 2.35:1
I recently ripped a copy of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire from the Complete 4-Film Collection. Most of the movie is in 2.35:1 aspect ratio, except for some scenes in the Games. My blu-ray player shows these scenes in full 16x9, but MakeMKV slices off the top and bottom to fit 2.35:1. Blu-Ray as it...
