Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023
Hi there. I'm doing this for the first time and just wanted to make sure I have a compatible drive. I got an LG BH16NS40 manufactured in April of 2024. Will this work, or is it back to the shop for this one? As per the 1st post of this thread, you should be good if all the requirements are met. Ple...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023
They are technically the same and you can flash to make it either an ASUS or a LG. Any reason you don't consider a Pioneer? I should check if they are available in Italy. Anyway, Alex Coluzzi told me that the LG is not so good and it will not last a lot. The Pioneer are those on the 1st page? 1 dri...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
I got 2 Pioneer S13UBK from Amazon, but one came with a few 1.04 which currently is not Libre supported. The other is fine on fw 1.03 As I am still in my 30 day return window, I can get another S13UBK and hope it has 1.03 fw or I can get the BDR-XD08UMB-S Of the 2 which has the better hardware for ...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023
Same experience for me that my LG WH16NS40 drive (installed in my PC) stopped reading and/or ripping my BR and UHD movies. It would not even read the previously ripped discs. I purchased the Pioneer BDR-XD08UMB-S and so far it has been flawless. Keeping my fingers crossed, that it does not die after...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023
I recommend downloading the Pioneer BD-Drive Utility from their website as it allows customization of the drive's performance. Did you explore this utility? I did not find any comprehensive documentation regarding various options. I see the explanation at high level but wary of causing long term ha...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023
Either I'm doing something horribly wrong, those drives are junk, or the firmware is asking the drives to do something they're not really capable of. Just buy the out-of-box UHD capable pioneer drives if you can, and save yourself much angst and $$. I had a failure of LG WH16NS40 after approx. 15 m...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023
The XD07UHD is 160 USD here, which I consider a lot for a 4x speed. Not to mention from some unknown online shop. Are there any differences with the other ones in recommended section terms of noise? I have no idea if a drive can have other benefits besides it's speed and noise. Maybe enclosure comp...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
I am looking to purchase a BDR-XS07UHD in the US, but I can not find it sold by Amazon or any other reputable dealer. Any recommendations? Any particular reason for not going with BDR-XD08UMB-S? It is available for $140 + taxes directly from Pioneer https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Computer/...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Be careful. Only the XD08UMB-S is UHD compatible. If you can still get an older version I would recommend the BDR-XS07UHD which might be more affordable. In USA, the XD08UMB-S is easily available from Pioneer or Amazon for $140. I could not find a reliable retailer to get the XS07UHD. If a pioneer ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
I am trying to decide to purchase BDR-XD08UMB-S directly from Pioneer USA to rip my 4K collections. But reading here on the forums, I am not sure if this drive is confirmed to work with MakeMKV with or without any firmware updates. Can someone on this forum confirm if they are able to rip 4K-UHD mov...

Re: The Green Planet 4K
Today (Oct-08-2022) I have submitted the dumps again. Still getting the error message "The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted" Here is the full text MakeMKV v1.17.1 win(x64-release) started Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as C:\Users\username/MakeMKV_lo...
