Re: Andor UK
I'm having similar issues with disc 2, ripping would always produce uncorrectable errors at the same position in either of my drives (ASUS BW16D1HT and Pioneer BDRS12U). I can make out circular scratches on that disc, maybe yours has some, too? Given the crappy three disc stack design of the steelbo...

Re: Makemkv is useless
I'm a bit confused by what you meant about AnyDVD. Are you saying you used it to rip discs instead of MakeMKV or that you used it in conjunction? I've tried everything here, and I'm willing to try that but I've seen AnyDVD or DVDFab brick my previous drive because I uninstalled it and kept MakeMKV....

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Not so sure it's everything we want.. "Dolby Vision profile 5 and profile 8 both work. Profile 7 as used on Bluray discs, is currently converted on-the-fly by chosen mode by libdovi 209 due to a bug in the upstream proprietary code." This is true for devices that are not the ugoos AM6 plu...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So does it actually apply the EL layer information, or does it just decode and throw it away? As far as I can tell yes. I tried the usual test files first, where there is a FEL stream from another movie present, I also tried the FEL TEST ST DL P7.mp4 with the "Dolby FEL support" text enco...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Just a heads up in case you haven't heard: Our old and well hated friend the UGOOS AM6+ rises from the dead. With the latest CoreELEC 20.3 Nexus version, it finally supports proper Dolby Vision FEL decoding with HD audio passthrough. I just installed it on my device (I have the AM6b+), configured au...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
On most movies the Zidoo Z9X will do you fine, if you absolutely feel you need full FEL then Ugoos am6+ with patched Kodi, but it is a real flaky box tbh. Ugoos released a new firmware today (https://ugoos.com/rc-firmware-update-v0-4-1-for-ugoos-am6-cube-x2-x3-models), with video codec and stabilit...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thank you very much for this information btw. I am now using MKVToolNix v55.0.0 for muxing DV files. I don't really understand why the MKVToolNix dev does not release a hotfix which disables the mentioned argument by default. I am pretty sure it does more harm than good for most users (it was intro...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Okay then, I guess the MKV as it came out of MakeMKV is as good as the one processed with MKVToolNix, as the DV data is not altered. I'm not planning on converting to other DV profiles. Actually, this is not true for the latest MKVToolNix version: https://gitlab.com/mbunkus/mkvtoolnix/-/issues/3093...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I have studied this topic (and many other forums) regarding Dolby Vision capable media players, and was about to give up on DV... but it seems that multiple users recently had luck with the newest Zidoo Z9X firmware (6.2.5). Allegedly, this version improves DV compatibility (see also http://forum.zi...
