Thanks. I'm getting "posix error input/output error" and "sci error, uncorrectable error" on a few disks, is this a drive error or a disc error?

Is it possibel to get "silent" corruption which makemkv doesn't pick up on.
If you had a disc which was damaged in some way, or a damaged optical drive, would makeMKV always realise and notify you, or could it silently corrupt the file without the program noticing. (For a real world example, I had a disc drive which was in a pc that got water damaged. Not sure if the drive ...

Does any Blu Ray drive work?
Most of the info and discussion I see about this is about 4k blu rays. I don't want to rip 4k blu rays, just normal ones. Would any drive work for this? For example something super cheap like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184792303350 ... SwX4BghaWG ?

Looking at buying LG WH16NS60
I'm looking at getting a LG WH16NS60 on eBay. Is it guaranteed to be able to be flashed with the firmware to allow it to rip 4k discs? I have read about the "drive platform" needing to be a certain one?

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021
Hi, the guide mentions you need a particular "drive platform", can drives have different platforms even if they are the same model? Looking at a LG WH16NS60 on eBay. (Also, they say in description it can play 4k blu rays, does this mean it can rip them too?)
