Re: udf: node fe/efe failed!

The rip completed and didn't show any errors in the log and while I didn't watch the entire movie, it appears to have ripped successfully.

Still not sure what the message means, though.

udf: node fe/efe failed!

I'm in the middle of ripping a UHD disc and I just noticed this in the log. Searching the forum shows a lot of people with it in their log, but they also have various read errors as well. The rip of the movie is only halfway done but I've not gotten any read errors. What does "udf: node fe/efe ...

Re: Very odd read error experience

First time I've ever run into it. Probably done close to a thousand different discs with them between cd, dvd, br, and uhd.

Very odd read error experience

I was ripping a brand new bluray and ran into the dreaded read error. https://www.makemkv.com/errors/read/ One of the titles kept throwing read errors. I took the disc out and blew off any dust that might have somehow landed on it. Still the same read error on that title. I then unplugged my LG USB ...

Re: Request setting to disable DOH

@mike admin Any chance for an advanced setting to disable the applications use of DOH? DOH is blocked on my network. Thank you. Oh, no. I'd recommend finding a free/cheap proxy/vpn and set up MakeMKV to use it. The cheapest option is to install TOR client and set socks proxy in MakeMKV preferences....

Why does MakeMKV use DoH?

Why is MakeMKV making DoH requests instead of just using the system DNS?

I understand that MakeMKV will do a version check, etc on startup when the Enable Internet access is checked, but I don't see a need for it to use DoH instead.

Ghost in the Shell (1995) Copy Protection Bypass Error

I was able to successfully rip both the UHD and BR included in the set. However, when I went to play the disc via VLC to double check the subtitles, I got an error message stating that it wouldn't show me the movie because I had a copy protection bypass program running. This only happened for the Bl...

Re: LG BP50NB40

look at your svc on the bottom if its nb52 do the nb52 steps NB52 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK with enc > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK with bootloader/full flash > BP60NB10 1.00_HBD from Marty link in guide I successfully flashed my nb50 drive and ended up picking up a second drive for a backup. However, this...

Re: VLC Bluray playback with MakeMKV snap

For anyone else looking into this error, it also happens when VLC is a snap even if MakeMKV is installed natively.

I had to reinstall my machine and I didn't notice that Ubuntu had defaulted to the snap version of VLC when it installed.

Re: Text based subtitles

Plex has the functionality to automatically download those subtitles. I just would like to convert the existing image based ones instead of trying to figure out which random subtitle file online has the correct forced subs.

Re: Text based subtitles

I've tried getting something to convert the image subtitles to text, but all of the guides I've seen so far have been for old, outdated software that doesn't work. I wouldn't mind a two step process. Just looking for a way to do it. AFAIK, the Shield might display image subtitles without transcoding...

Text based subtitles

Is there a way to have makemkv output text based subtitles in addition to the image based ones from the disc?

The image based ones cause Plex to transcode the video and chew up my processor, which means I can't really stream any 4k with subtitles.

Re: LG BP50NB40

I did read the guide and the SDF tool. The relevant details are just a bit scattered across all of that. The step I was missing was this. BP50NB40 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK then to > BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK It seems to be working correctly now, but it'll be a while before the rip completes and I k...
