Yes, that seems to be the issue. I still had a copy of 1.17.6. Quickly compiled and tested, and the BDR-XD08 worked!
Thank you for your help!

Pioneer BDR-XD08 not working with Linux version of MakeMKV
In a previous thread , I mentioned this issue. Since that post, I have made sure my system is up-to-date (Debian Sid), and have re-compiled MakeMKV to the current system. The issue remains. MakeMKV attempts to read a disc (any DVD or BD disc), and I can hear the drive momentarily read the disc, but ...

Standard BD.
Edit: I installed makemkv in a Windows 7 VM, and it works. Must be something with Linux.

Pioneer BDR-XD08B
I recently purchased a Pioneer BDR-XD08B. When I try to use it with makemkv, it tries to load a disc, but nothing happens. makemkvcon runs at 100% and exiting makemkv doesn't kill the process. I did rip a CD with the new drive, so I know that at least works. I also have another Pioneer drive, a BDR-...

Re: makemkv 1.9.1 segmentation fault
Thanks.
I usually don't run the make install command. I usually just manually copy the libs and binaries to the appropriate places as I try not to install too much outside of the package manager. Has worked for me, up until 1.8.6.
I did the make install this time. Seems to be working.

makemkv 1.9.1 segmentation fault
Trying to run makemkv on Debian 'Sid'. Re: remux makemkv .mkv output to .m2ts ?
You're right. When I posted my earlier response I only tried it with SD content. As far as I know tsMuxeR is no longer developed. I find older software has trouble dealing with HD audio in MKV, or MKV with WebM content. You said you use the backup feature of MakeMKV? So why not use tsMuxeR before ma...

1.6.1 fixed the problem for me. Also this version works without running it as root.
