I got it to crash again :-)
I couldnt see a core file - it was not in my current working directory. The GUI seems to crash but the makemkvcon process is still sleeping. 'ulimit -c unlimited' does not help me. Where should the core file be created (does the program change its current directory ...

I tried again after posting and it did not crash on my second try.
My usage sequence was not exactly the same the second time - so it does not appear to be just changing the output folder which triggers the crash. It may depend on previous operations.
I will try again to reproduce.

Crash on Ubuntu 10.4
I just built/installed the latest 1.6.0 and had a crash when changing the output directory.
The console crash dump was:
