Re: WH16NS60 No Disc Issue
Yes I recommend the BU40N or a UHD pioneer. That is the drive I sell but I buy it preassembled in a case from archgon I just ordered this one instead straight off Amazon hoping this will work straight away with no firmware flashing? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Z2SS7JD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asi...

Re: WH16NS60 No Disc Issue
Interesting I have a BH16NS40 internal drive that just stopped working I was away for three weeks, came back, copied 2 discs with no issue then a couple of days later it stopped working and now it will not even read plain CDs or software discs. There was a windows update in between and it happened t...

Re: Query over upgrading to Mac Studio Max
Huge downgrade apple is not magic your going form 16 cores to 10 you won't be able to use the nvidia encoder and I'm not sure if handbreak can use the hardware encoder on Mac. Thanks @billycar11 I was half expecting this reply! Yeah it does sound like i am good where i am as it is. My build above w...

Query over upgrading to Mac Studio Max
Hi All I have been happily using MakeMKV on my current windows PC which is a pretty powerful build as listed below and only one year old. However i would like to move away from Windows and onto a more slimline PC form and more energy efficient as i have my PC running 24/7. It has been a while since ...

Re: SDFtool Flasher
@MartyMcNuts I need some help I am getting pretty consistent failed rips with my hardware but not always. In the last week i just tried ripping Jungle cruise UHD and THOR Dark World UHD and they are both failing. I tried MakeMKV and DVD Fab UHD Rip with the same issues. Contrary to that an older UHD...

Thanks Marty
I am assuming I can just override existing firmware...i.e. just flash on top of the 1.05 I have now?

Re: New PC build came with BH16NS40 - safe to patch?
Yes, cleaning the discs is usually the first step to resolve these issues. Also, I suggest using a better firmware such as WH16NS60 1.02 from the MK firmware pack (in the old folder). Essentially anything but staying on 1.05. The newer firmwares majorly suck. On your current firmware, the sleep bug...

Re: New PC build came with BH16NS40 - safe to patch?
You should clead all UHDs before inserting. Even brand new and looking pristine. Wash with warm water and liquid soap. Dry with paper towel. Wipe then with a microfiber cloth e.g. the ones used for cleaning glasses. Try again. This is not a clean disc issue. 3 discs in a row is a bit of a coinciden...

Re: New PC build came with BH16NS40 - safe to patch?
Hi @MartyMcNuts Sorry for revisiting this post but i finally flashed the firmware for the drive today using your tool, checked the encrypted option - flasging worked and i can see MakeMKV recognising it as flashed, however i tried 3 4K disks today and the first one came with lots of reading errors b...

Yep, it can be flashed and yes it will be able to read UHD's.
Can I just use your guide (SDF tool) and select the 'enc' flag when I flash?
Thanks
