Re: Way to lock makemkv to one drive and specify on command

Did you try the command line paramter "dev:/dev/sr2"? That's works for me here in stream mode:

Code: Select all

$ ps aux | grep \[m]ake
$USER 46457 5.2 13.3 948108 540260 ? Ssl 16:09 0:32 makemkvcon --bindport=52034 stream dev:/dev/sr0

Re: Bluray navigation menus

I'd love to see this feature too. I agree that fuse might be better than NFS. ISTM this would be *the* killer feature for MakeMKV on Linux. I wrote a fairly complicated wrapper around makemkvcon that let's me automatically start a streaming server. It works fine but I stopped development once I saw ...

Segfault while streaming in version 1.6.7

I had never encountered a segfault while streaming in earlier versions. The previous version I was using was 1.6.5. I got 1.6.7 to segfault first time I tried it. I was using XBMC as the client. I tried jumping forward and back between titles. This usually causes XBMC fits. XBMC did hang. After I ki...

Re: Build problem for 1.6.5 under Gentoo

Thank you both for replying. @mike admin, I'm certain I'm *not* using a custom makefile. I'm using the same ebuild file that worked with version 1.6.3. There are no files in the build directory that did not come from one of your tarballs. Turns out the problem was reported in comment #38 here: http:...

Re: James Bond A Quantum Of Solace & Avatar Collectors Editi

You mentioned Gnome so I'm assuming you're using Linux. On Linux, I've tried streaming to VLC, SMPLayer, Mplayer, and XBMC. I almost always use XBMC now. It makes good use of VDPAU which allows my CPUs to loaf or do other things. It gives you control of audio and video channels. For me, the only adv...

Re: Unable to compile 1.6.4 on Ubuntu server 10.04

It worked here on Gentoo. Thanks. Here is the patch file. I called it makemkv-1.6.4.patch. I put it in a "files" subdirectory as per usual: diff -u -r makemkv_v1.6.4_oss.orig/makefile.linux makemkv_v1.6.4_oss/makefile.linux --- makemkv_v1.6.4_oss.orig/makefile.linux 2011-02-03 02:18:14.000...

Re: Direct video streaming

I was easily able to stream mkv files by installing the Cherokee web server (on Linux) and then setting it up (via the web GUI) for media streaming. I just put a symlink to the file under the htdocs (the document_root) directory after configuring Cherokee for media streaming. This was fast, easy, an...

Re: makemkv doesnt work - kubuntu 10.10

I Googled(KSharedDataCache::Private::mapSharedMemory) and it seems people are having similar problems with other programs (gvim and vlc to name two). This is probably a problem with KDE/Kubuntu. One suggestion was to turn off gtk-qt-engine, but I don't know what that is or whether you have it on. I ...

Re: Playing interlaced VC-1 videos on Linux

Yes, I completely agree with you that the onus rests on ffmpeg and its current lack of support for VC-1 interlaced. There was a Google Summer of Code project to add VC-1 interlaced support to ffmpeg but the last reported status was they were working on parsing the headers. Until that support is adde...

Re: {SOLVED}<blushes> MakeMKV not producing an MKV file

I respectfully disagree. You are not an idiot. The UI is confusing. I remember feeling a similar frustration the first time I tried to use it. It is not clear that you have to hit the giant icon below in order to activate the rest of the toolbar icons. I suspect we Linux users have a more difficult ...

Re: MakeMKV not producing an MKV file

When I choose "Save Selected Files" (after selecting "Open Blu-ray disc"), MakeMKV generates a .mkv file for each selected title on the disc. These are named something like title01.mkv, title02.mkv, etc.

Re: Forced Subtitles question

Some blurays have bogus labeling of audio and subtitle tracks. I'd bet that some of those subtitle tracks are in languages other than English. I'd also guess that you want the first subtitle track. But here is a suggestion that will tell you for sure which subtitles to use. Try using makemkv to stre...

Re: Does VC-1 videos present problems with Linux?

I just posted instructions on how to use a 32-bit chroot environment to transcode VC-1 interlaced videos in the "MKV file processing and playback" forum. This is my first time doing this and I'm only 20% through the first file so there may still be a few bugs to iron out.

Playing interlaced VC-1 videos on Linux

I'm trying to watch the BBC bluray "Ganges". The main features are VC-1 encoded and I suspect they are interlaced. I am unable to play them on my 64-bit Linux system. I made a 32-bit chroot environment and installed mplayer in it with the win32codecs. I was able to play ripped .mkv files g...
