earlier variants where less reliable. stay clear of models from around 2016 and stick with 2023 models if possible.

so just some info. I had a bu40n for about 4 years that worked flawlessly on every disk I fed it but sadly the ribbon cable failed and the drive was dead in the water. I had a backup bu40n that was made in 2016 but that drive was noisy and failed to rip disks often. i decided to try again and bought...

I'm going to have to agree with Billy. I had a lg desktop drive that i bought on eBay, pre patched. It came dead on arrival.I had it swapped out for another one. it worked for the most part at first but it stopped reading disks shortly after. Now i have a bu40n that i patched myself and it works gre...

I will say, I have a ws14ns40 drive and i was only having about a 75 percent success rate ripping UHD disks with plenty of scsi errors when trying. i updated to the recommended ws16ns60 firmware and after that the drive is faster, quieter, and has no more issues ripping any discs. just FYI.
