Are there recent recommendations for drives that are available in the US and known to work? I took a couple weeks to order ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

Hello!

I have a Pioneer BDR 212BK I am hopeful that Libredrive can be enabled. I really just want to be able to process Bluray disks, no real need to process UHD but I'll partner with Billy on that is needed.

I'm running Makemkv V1.18.4 and I see that LibreDrive shows possible, not yet ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

Pioneer Issue: ASUS SBC-06D2X-U with platform RS8950 and fw 1.10 is not supported.

Post the MakeMKV drive info. If it's newer firmware, did you et a firmware dump & send it in?

Thanks, no, I don't sent the dump yet. Where do I send? EDIT: Sent to svq@makemkv.com.

Re: Pioneer BDR-UD03 UHD possibility

By speaking of RS8950 ......

My brother got a ASUS SBC with this drive inside. It had firmware 1.03 with enabled LibreDrive.

He's a little bit an update freak and flashed to the last firmware 1.10. Now LibreDrive is disabled and Blu-ray ripping is possible only up to 2.1x. :roll ...

Re: Reasonable Price for New LGBP50NB40 Flashed to BU40N?

I wouldn't sign that flatly. But that is also a bit of a question of faith.

The BU40N (which is installed there) is the best LG drive, also with a view to the longevity,

But $190 is too expensive.

Better to buy a used drive and flash yourself. Great information can be found here in the forum.

Re: Need help identifying this drive's mechanism For UHD flashing

Hi, everyone.
Newcomer here, recently just bought an ASUS SBW-06D2X-U A102 that was manufactured in 2025. Would be really appreciated if anyone can tell me whether or not it can become an UHD-friendly drive. Here are some informations:
