Lol, yes, the artificial stupidity ...
@ superspartan:
Your drive is a 4K drive out of the box (BDR-XS07UHD) and libredrive ist enabled. So have fun with ripping discs up to 4K.

Re: iodata says they will start making blurays drives again
Question is which drives will they use? LG and Pioneer has stopped production. Panasonic / Matshita? But there're no 4k (flashable) drives.

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U
Yeah, ASUS is an OEM manufacturer like Buffalo, Techpulse, Archgon, Verbatim and others.
They use drives from manufacturer LG, Pioneer or Panasonic / Matshita.

Re: Flashing LG WH16NS40
No! Don't flash it, as Billy and Marty wrote.
The newer firmware for the WH16NS40 is for the drives younger than 2015 and with platform MT1959. Not for the old platform MT1939.

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U
The first of the two I bought contains a BW-16D1HT, S/N starts with TCD an was built in December 2025.
The second I will check later of the day. I assume, it will be the same.

I have two brand new at home since yesterday. Good deal from German online shop. Will check today after work, I'm curious which drives are inside.

So it came with native firmware 1.00 I assume. Great. If you'll have issues with some discs try 1.03MK. Without problems you can let the firmware as it is.

Re: Is my Verbatim 43888 flashable
Nothing really helps, I can't reflash the drive anymore. At least it still reads regular Blu-rays, so it's not completely dead yet. Is it possible that the drive is having problems because it's not getting enough power via USB? Then regular Blu-rays would probably have the same problems, right? I'm...

Re: Is my Verbatim 43888 flashable
Weird. The BU40N has not the same power issue like the Pioneer BDR-UD03 / UD04. Which USB port do you use? I don't know about another flashing related solution. Perhaps Marty can help. The MakeMKV drive information before the first flash could be useful. But you've made no copy of the origin screen,...

Re: Is my Verbatim 43888 flashable
Try recovery mode.
In the first selection menu choose the BP60 1.00 and in the second the BU40N 1.03MK.
Or try to flash to BP60 1.02MK and after this to BU40N 1.03MK.

Re: LG BP55EB40 - flash issue
In the past I had a BP55EB40, built April or May 2016. MT1959 and go..... and bricked because there was no BU40N inside but a BU20N.
When in doubt, open and look, then you are on the safe side, imo.

Re: LG WH16NS40, mfg Aug ‘14 - reports 1939 w/ 1959 chip inside?
Let it be.
Independend to the chip it's a MT-1939 as MakeMKV shows and no drive with production year 2014 is compatible for flashing.
