As far as I know, Pioneer Combo drive can't be flashed, only the combos from / with LG inside (LG CH12NS40, ASUS BC-12D2HT with MT1959 and BC-12B1ST with MT1959).
All ASUS SB"C"-Drives can't be flashed. Only SB"W" with a flashable drive inside.

Re: Verbatim 43888 and 43889
Old 43888 had Pioneer BDR-UD04, not BDR-UD03, new has Hitachi-LG BU40N Right, the former 43888 was UHD and Libre Drive ready out of the box. The former 43889 was the drive for flashing from UD03 to UD04. Both USB-C. Only the third drive 43890 contains USB Micro-B with Y-power-cable and additionally...

Re: LG Original Firmware Flashers (to return to original firmware)
I can't say it just now. Check it out, it will talk to you before you can start the flashing process. It could be that it recognize the WH16NS60-Firmware and will take this as base for the flashing. If you're unsure with useing the tool I can test it later after work with a BH16NS55 @ WH16NS60 1.02M...

There's a LG universal flashing tool which recognize the right model or firmware by itself.

The firmware is past 11/2022 and can't be flashed. Perhaps there's a solution in the future.

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
I had a SH216 set up thanks to this forum a few years ago. It died from too much ripping, ha. I bought a BDR-212V and just now got around to getting it set up. However, I've lost most of my knowledge over that time. I tried poking around on this forum but it seems like most problems are getting fix...

Re: SDF update November 2025
So I'm thinking about buying a UHD blu ray burner from ebay (shipping from china) Firmware is pre 12/2022, and its a UHD model. Here's the info. Its a Pioneer BDR-S11JX drive. The seller in China actually sent you the MakeMKV information about the drive? I can imagine that some sellers are aware of...

Re: Does BDR-UD04TBD support UHD libredrive?
I can tell that, related to the BDR-UD03 variation (e.g. TBD, FAL or of course without such letter combinations), that every model variation that I've bought in China or Japan (ebay) was able to flash to BDR-UD04. It was a risky but lucky try. Whether the same applies to the final UD04 variants I ca...

Re: Verbatim 43889
The 43889 has the Pioneer BDR-UD03 inside (older models) or the LG BU40N (newer models).
Both need to flash for ripping 4K disks with MakeMKV.
For pioneer you need the flasher from Billy oder Marty for example. The LG you can flash yourself with the flashing guide which you can find here.
