Re: Buffalo Media Drive
Ok, there're two possibilities in my opinion: 1. Get the drive out for a look to the modell. The save way. or 2. Blind trying the recovery mode with the SDF Flasher. In the first drop down menu use the BU40N firmware from the first flash and in the second drop down use the WH16NS60 1.02MK. In the we...

Re: Buffalo Media Drive
A few steps back: Do you know which drive the MakeMKV drive information has shown before the BU40N flash?

Re: Buffalo Media Drive
It's a LG drive in a Buffalo enclosure.
Check the third post here, perhaps it will help to get the drive out --> viewtopic.php?t=41293

Re: Buffalo Media Drive
As I thought. This is an older LG drive which can't be flashed and with the flash to the BU40N the drive is bricked, I think. You can try open the enclosure for the look to the sticker to find out the drive modell. Then try a flash with the native LG flashing tool for this modell if this tool is ava...

Re: Buffalo Media Drive
I assume you have the 5,25" Buffalo drive and not the slim USB drive and you've flashed the slim drive firmware to 5,25" drive I 've don't see yet a 4K flashable Buffalo enclosure which contains a 5,25" LG, so I don't think the recovery mode will help. Please show picture of the front...

Re: BW-16D1HT stuck in BOOT mode after rawflash - sdftool "No drive tool logic found"
The BU40N is the best LG drive and with the 1.03MK, in my opinion, it scratches at the quality of the the lower Pioneer drives like BDR-UD04 or BDR-XD05 series. I had no clean disk which were ripped by a BDR-UD04 and which couldn't ripped by a BU40N 1.03MK. I had only one bad scratched disc in the p...

Re: Help downgrading Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD Firmware
Lol, yes, the artificial stupidity ...
@ superspartan:
Your drive is a 4K drive out of the box (BDR-XS07UHD) and libredrive ist enabled. So have fun with ripping discs up to 4K.

Re: iodata says they will start making blurays drives again
Question is which drives will they use? LG and Pioneer has stopped production. Panasonic / Matshita? But there're no 4k (flashable) drives.

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U
Yeah, ASUS is an OEM manufacturer like Buffalo, Techpulse, Archgon, Verbatim and others.
They use drives from manufacturer LG, Pioneer or Panasonic / Matshita.

Re: Flashing LG WH16NS40
No! Don't flash it, as Billy and Marty wrote.
The newer firmware for the WH16NS40 is for the drives younger than 2015 and with platform MT1959. Not for the old platform MT1939.

The first of the two I bought contains a BW-16D1HT, S/N starts with TCD an was built in December 2025.
The second I will check later of the day. I assume, it will be the same.

Re: New BU40N Drive Flash Failure
So it came with native firmware 1.00 I assume. Great. If you'll have issues with some discs try 1.03MK. Without problems you can let the firmware as it is.
