Re: Is my LG BH16NS40 toast?

I doubt it. But better check it out instead throwing it in the tin unchecked.

Has power connection changed?

Reading BD works? Other BD-R brand tested?

You can try to clean the laser lenses with alcohol and q-tips. Do it twice and dry immediately, not let it dry by air.

If that don't work you can assume that the blue laser is defective.

The BU40N is the best one from LG.
Enjoy it with firmware 1.03MK.

Re: SDFtool Flasher

There are no Not-MT1959-plattforms with the BU40N available.

Checked it with another cable oder with another USB port? Also you can try to extract the drive carefully and try an USB to Mini-SATA adapter for the flashing process.

Re: All you need and Mk-firmware files?

Somebody may correct me, but if you have an Buffalo BRXL-16U3 without a Pioneer drive but a LG, it has the older and not compatible MT1939 platform.
Buffalo used LG BH10 oder BH12 drives in earlyer 16U3 a far as I know.

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?

Yes, it's flashable. Check the Ultimate Flashing Guide.

Test it with the LG WH16NS60 1.02MK firmware.

Re: Pioneer UHD BDR-S11JX from China

Without a look to the MakeMKV drive informationit it's a glass ball prediction.

You can risk it or perhaps the seller is answering the question about the installed firmware.

Looking at the picture (I'm not at home yet), it seems that it might be 1.05 on it. Bearing in mind I'm new to this, does that mean it's encrypted? If so, is there anything I can do?
Yes, 1.05 is encrypted but the SDFtool Flasher has a checkbox to solve this.

Yes, 1.05 is encrypted. Use -enc in your command line as it's described.

Re: Pioneer BD-RW BDR-XS07U does not work.

Blu-rays and 4K won't recognize at all?

Perhaps the blue laser is defective or dirty.

You can try to clean the laser lenses with alcohol and q-tips. Clean and dry without getting the alcohol on the laser dry by air.
