With DOS Flash you could rescue the drive.

The problem is, I think, that you've flashed a slim drive firmware like BP60 or BU40N to a regular internal drive.

The WH16NS60 MK 1.02 is the recommended one.

How to get the drive back to regular function, I don't know.

With look to the sticker it's probably for the china market.

I have no further drive information 'cause the drive isn't in my possession.

A friend of mine had the same problem. Solution was another USB-SATA adapter.

If you get a reaction with the flasher, first flash from original 1.03 to MK 1.03. Then down to MK 1.02.

The HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin is the MK one.

Flash your drive and enjoy 4k.

Or the ICY BOX IB-525-U3. It looks similiar to the Vantec.

Seems that the drive is defect. You can try cleaning the lenses (disconnect any cable before opening) but I've no another idea. Sorry. Perhaps another member has an idea.

BW-16D1HT with Firmware WH16NS60 MK1.02 was ripping 100% of the BHD 4K disc without any problems.

How it's connected to the notebook?

Is the BDR-208 the lowest modell number, which can be flashed to 4K compatibility with e.g. Billy's tools?

Bad luck, I'll tell him so. He said, that he has another USB ASUS drive at his girlfriends home, perhaps this is better for flashing. We'll see.....
