Re: Forced subtitles

And what's stopping you from doing that BEFORE you rip the movie, so you can deselect unwanted subtitle tracks, not even ripping them with MakeMKV? And how do you know before ripping the disc? MakeMKV doesn't know which ones there are By playing back the disc before ripping it and cycling through t...

Re: Forced subtitles

I managed to download an outdated version of mkvtoolnix from another website. It's really ridiculous that I can't even download the current version from the actual website. I agree, cause you can get it easily from Moritz's page or from Videohelp . Instead, to find out which are the forced subs, I'...

Re: The Walking Dead- Daryl Dixon missing English subs

Are the forced subs items flagged as such in the regular track or is there a separate track with all the forced items but not flagged as such?

I agree with Woodstock but if you still want to try (on Windows though) you could use Staxrip or X Media Recode.

Re: Avatar 3 Disc Collectors Edition and Forced Subtitles

Doing the above has allowed me to finally get the Forced Subtitles on Avatar, Avengers Assemble and Charlie's Angels, thus far. So the 3 Disc Collector's edition has no items flagged as forced as opposed to the regular US BD of Avatar which is one of the very few US BDs that has been authored this ...

Is there a simple way to identify which of the subtitle tracks should be marked as forced?
Play back the movie in VLC an enable a subtitle track. If someone is speaking and there's no subitle shown, it's most like the forced track.

I want all videos track, all german and english audio and subtitle tracks.
Me too, which is why I use this: -sel:all,+sel:(deu|eng|nolang),-sel:(core),-10:(forced*(eng)),-15:(deu),-20:(forced*(deu)).

Re: Ripping subtitles to srt file

Since Vobsub uses less colors than PGS, you usually do lose a bit of quality but it's usually acceptable. Since PGS are better/bigger, they are easier to OCR than Vobsub, so I personally always go with SRT. Losing positioning doesn't matter that much IMO.

Re: Default selection rule for audio+subtitles

Oops, I keep English and German subs only so and apparently I've adjusted my command badly above. If you wand to keep only all English subs, this should do it: -sel:all,+sel:(eng),-sel:(core),-10:(eng),-20:(forced(eng) The "lighter" tracks rise to the top, that means the English forced (IF...

Re: Default selection rule for audio+subtitles

Should look something like this: -sel:all,+sel:(eng),-sel:(core),-10:(eng),-20:(forced*(eng).

Re: Subtitles for foreign language only?

Sounds like too much work to implement for Mike when he won't even implement some kind of parse function like BDtoAVCHD's 'Scan bitrate'. After parsing is done, it shows each track's size so you can pinpoint the forced tracks easily without having to extract them first. If it detects items flagged a...

It's been quite a while but IIRC DVD Shrink also strips region coding. You could give it a go.

Re: A good method to get proper subtitles and force them

I ask this as sometimes these subs are not on their own "stream/track" but a subset that has to be fished out as it were. Usually these subsets are items which are forced which is exactly what MakeMKV will recognize and extract as a single track of only forced subs. The problem is with se...
