Re: forced subtitle issue solved
Simply uncheck the first two subtitle and forced tracks and then click the makemkv button and voila you will now have the movie with the force subtitles. Not necessarily cause not all forced subs are flagged as forced, as explained here . Playback is also much less of a hassle if you simply use VLC.

Re: makemkvcon and removing the subtitles
No need to fiddle with command-lines when you can use Handbrake & Co. Also, VobSubs on DVDs are usually < 10 MB so it wouldn't make much of a difference keeping them.

Re: makemkvcon and removing the subtitles
Subs are usually small and turned off so why not keep them?

Sure about that? Mike may have anticipated this, similar to empty forced tracks being discarded.

Re: Iron Man forced subtitles says empty after rip
Shouldn't make any difference if you check the "regular" third track or the forced only checkbox.bw001 wrote:If you only want forced subs, uncheck all the subtitle tracks except the 3rd english track forced only checkbox.

Re: Default selection rule help: subtitles and foreign audio
I wouldn't mind selecting ALL favlang subtitles all the time if VLC or XBMC would respect the "Default" flag on non-forced subtitles Contrary to XBMC, VLC does. When the forced flag is not set and the default flag is set to no, VLC will not display the subtitle. Unfortunately XBMC (Win) a...

Re: How to rip Memento Chronological version
Use BDInfo to select playlists for longer titles. Check the corresponding m2ts to see if it's the regular or chronological order and rip accordingly. Apparently the chronological order is present on the disc? I'm asking cause I haven't found any chronological on the Sin City BD, only on the DVD.

Re: PGS Subtitles MakeMKV & Handbrake
Which explains why MakeMKV only sets the default flag to yes. Of course I have no idea why
ignoreForcedSubtitlesFlag="true"
should be set to true by default.

Re: How do you turn on embedded subtitles?
Is my only recourse to use a third party program that is not officially for the mac? "Jonathan Buschmann provides a universal (32/64bits) package for Leopard/Snow Leopard for MKVToolNix. You can download the latest version (5.7.0 build 2012-07-11-cd22) directly from my site." Sounds offic...

Alternatively check the BD with BDinfo and test one of the m2ts referenced in the most likely playlist with VLC.

Re: PGS Subtitles MakeMKV & Handbrake
With forced subs MakeMKV already sets the default flag to yes. I'm sure Mike will find the time to also set the forced flag to yes as well as add an option to set the flags via the properties pulldown menu if enough people request it.

Re: How do you turn on embedded subtitles?
Luckily MakeMKV sets regular subs to off by default. Open the mkv in MKVmerge's header editor and set the default flag to yes (which can still be ignored by your player).
