What's the current state of using Win Software on MACs? You could try BDInfo on this one.

Re: Cells automatically deleted from MKV file.
How about ripping the DVD with DVD Shrink to ISO and only then making an mkv out of it? Maybe the results will differ.

Re: Extract Subtitles as separate files?
I use VSRip. When it's a tv show with several episodes, it's sometimes easier to remux the DVD first with DVD Shrink's re-author mode.

Re: Confusion: Forced Subtitles
In the meantime I made some more tests and found out that, although MakeMKV isn't capable of exporting the forced ones only like with BD PGS, MakeMKV preserves the forced flag for individual subtitles within the track. It wasn't easy to find out because VLC doesn't display only forced ones. Haven't...

Re: Confusion: Forced Subtitles
Am I missing some configuration option that enables this "PGS forced only" also for DVDs? No. Both MIB and xXx have forced items inside their regular tracks but unlike with BD PGS, MakeMKV does not recognize them. You have to extract them with e.g. VSRip and then extract all forced items ...

Re: Subtitles from MKV and Burning In
I really wish there was a particular Subtitle file that would work with MKV Toolnix. For the life of me, I have no idea why that MKV Subtitle file displays one way when it is played in its original MKV file, but when Handbrake burns it it, the file is Burned In in a different position. It is really...

Re: Subtitles from MKV and Burning In
There are many movies where the Subtitles need to be turned On in order to have them seen. I don't like doing this, though. Some of the players such as MPC-BE and MPC-HC don't even recognize "Default" Tracks that are supposed to be "Forced" On "automatically." Actually...

Re: Hide and Seek
Can't say how it's done on DVD because I don't own any with a movie that has several versions on it. But I assume it's similar to BDs where the info window on the right shows the playlist, once you've selected a title in the left window. Title 3 of my Avatar Extended Collector's Edition Disc 1 yield...
