Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
In case it's useful for anyone else, the following commands can be used to generate a list of shots from an RPU, which can be used to verify synchronization. First, convert the RPU to json: dovi_tool export -i RPU.bin -o RPU.json Second, use jq to get a list of frames that have the scene_refresh_fla...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks! That's really helpful. I ended up doing mpv --vo=gpu-next --target-trc=pq --target-prim=bt.2020 bd://mpls/800 --bluray-device=[path to blu-ray folder] in one maximized window and mpv --vo=gpu-next --target-trc=pq --target-prim=bt.2020 [path to DV MP4] in another. That way I could quickly jum...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Is there a good way to spot check whether a DV P5 video base layer and an HDR10 video have the same (or similar enough) light levels for the metadata to be compatible for the hybrid maker functionality?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
If I have a profile 5 DV video with a 2.40:1 aspect ratio, is there any way to prevent the dark gray bars added by the x700 from changing brightness in response to the DV data? I don't think I'd mind the bars being dark gray by itself, but the flickering is distracting. (Short of reencoding the vide...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Okay, another couple of questions. First, I've seen reference to converting P5 to P8 to create "hybrid" streams using the HDR10 BL from the UHD blu-ray combined with the Dolby Vision data available via streaming. Is this ~always the best approach where possible, or are there cases where th...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
For movies with neither a Dolby Vision track nor HDR10+ metadata to convert, how much of a difference am I likely to notice on an LG C1 between auto-generating shot-by-shot metadata versus just playing it back with static metadata? Is it more likely to make a difference in a brighter room (so Dolby ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
check the spreadsheet in my signature. *** I think I found an issue with the x800m2: 1- DTS-HD 2.0 plays only as lossy DTS (core) 2- DTS-HD 7.1 seems to always be out of sync about 2 frames (83MS) but strangely DTS-HD 5.1 is fine. Thanks! That's helpful. Any idea whether those also happen with the ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Is there a good summary of the current state of affairs with respect to playing back backups of discs with Dolby Vision? I'm new to this, having just upgraded to a Dolby-Vision-capable TV, and my searches seem to just drop me into the middle of this thread (or similarly-long threads on other sites),...

Re: Read errors followed by "Backup Done"
Hmm… after further checking, it appears the rip is good. After doing another rip on a different drive with no reported errors, I ended up with a result that was bit-for-bit identical to the first one, so it appears the 9 reported read errors were all successfully retried in this case (though surely ...

Re: Have ISO, Have discattd.dat, now what?
When you do the backup option in MakeMKV, you need to start an encrypted backup (uncheck "Decrypt video files") in order to create a discatt.dat (not discattd.dat). There will not be a MAKEMKV folder.

Read errors followed by "Backup Done"
Quick question: If I see the following… Backing up disc into folder "…" Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files. Encountered 9 errors of type 'Read Error' - see http://www.makemkv.com/errors/read/ Backup done Does that indicate any problem with the backup, or does &q...

Men in Black backup fails to make decrypted backup
I'm trying to make a full decrypted backup of Men in Black, but it fails part way through, always at the same spot. It doesn't appear to be a read error, because making an encrypted backup works fine.
I've attached the debug log.

Feature request: Option to add titles in MPLS order
I have noticed that MakeMKV seems to add titles in a seemingly arbitrary order. For example, one of my discs results in the following (non-relevant lines removed): File 00002.mpls was added as title #0 File 00006.mpls was added as title #1 File 00005.mpls was added as title #2 File 00003.mpls was ad...

Re: Bluray navigation menus
+1
Having the ability to watch a disc without the 45 minute wait would significantly improve the acceptance factor.
Given the choice, I would much rather have a Fuse based solution than an NFS based solution for a large variety of reasons.
