Re: UHD FAQ

That's not the sleep bug, it's something else. The sleep bug occurs when you insert a UHD disc into a drive with "friendly" firmware and let it sit for a few minutes before trying to read it and the drive starts making horrible seeking noises until you eject the disc. I don't get the seek...

Re: UHD FAQ

The sleep bug has nothing to do with triple layer discs. The sleep bug is firmware dependent. Any drive using UHD "friendly" firmware has the sleep bug. Drives using "official" UHD drive firmware do not. The only time I've ever experienced the sleep bug is with triple layer disc...

Re: UHD FAQ

I feel like the first post of this thread needs ton include a statement about the sleep bug associated with triple layer discs. There should be enough data collected from drive sellers to be able to accurately say which drives have no issue with triple layer discs. From what I've seen, only UHD offi...

Re: Unknown Issue with Oppenheimer

Only other thing I could think of to try before purchasing a UHD official drive is to see if you're getting the same issue when it's put into a desktop using internal sata connectors. It may just be not enough power is being delivered to the drive, or it's intermittently cutting power, during the ri...

Re: Unknown Issue with Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer is a triple layer 100 GB UHD disc. Triple layer discs are known to be extremely finicky with any drive that is "UHD Friendly" because of the "sleep bug" issue. This is where, the disc doesn't register and the drive goes to sleep. The whole "clean the disc, replac...

Re: Noob question about ripping and playback with Dolby Vision and DTS:X or Atmos

Thanks. I was pretty sure this is what it was so I opened a share and put infused on my appletv+. That should have worked. Unfortunately no dice. No dolby vision and no dts:X Not sure how to tell if the rip didn't fully work or something else about the playback that I am missing. Does Apple TV supp...

Re: So now what? Purchased flashed Pioneer BD, Purchased MakeMKV, so how to convert and playback?

Plex doesn't support BDMV or ISO playback, so you'll have to convert each file to a MKV.

As far as organization, you'll have to see how PLEX handles organizing. Some players are fine with a lot of sub folders, but some can't handle it.

Re: Avatar Collectors Edition 4K Dump Submitted

I ended up getting this to back-up with decrypting the file. The main issue I was having was described here: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23840&start=30 What ended up working for me was using my cell phone as a hotspot and not the DSN or host file modification :( Somet...

Can you tell me how to do this in MakeMKV?
You want to choose back-up folder button instead of clicking on the disc drive button.
Backup (makemkv).jpg
Backup (makemkv).jpg (6.04 KiB) Viewed 637 times
This backs up the whole disc instead of creating a MKV.

I'm still getting a failure to update. Is anyone else still having this issue? I've allowed the hosts file to be updated, even switched antivirus software, and went entirely without. But nothing works, still..
I'm still getting this error with both Avatar Collectors Editions.

Re: Creating ISO with MakeMKV

VLC can play ISOs but it doesn't give you the menu from the Blu-ray disc. If it's a TV show, you can't even select which episode you want to watch. If you do a backup, you get the full menu UI created for the movie/TV show. You do have to make sure you have java installed/upgraded for it to work th...

Re: Creating ISO with MakeMKV

And how do you play the ISO file if it's a Blu-ray? I mean if you have to ask, then why even ask if MakeMKV can create it?! :| Why do you need to create ISO's, are you burning discs? To play an ISO in Windows mount it on a virtual drive, not sure but I think there may be some software players that ...
