Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Just a heads up in case you haven't heard: Our old and well hated friend the UGOOS AM6+ rises from the dead. With the latest CoreELEC 20.3 Nexus version, it finally supports proper Dolby Vision FEL decoding with HD audio passthrough. I just installed it on my device (I have the AM6b+), configured a...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hello, I stumbled upon issue, maybe someone here might be able to help me. I want to convert 4K DV+HDR10 MKV into lower bitrate MP4 to play DV on my LG Plex. Normally, when I only want to change the container from MKV to MP4 I just use ffmpeg.exe -i "source.mkv" -map 0 -c copy -c:s mov_te...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I didn't realize it may had todo with an issue with ffmpeg itself, anyways, I have been using a newer ffmpeg version The first is the one you linked to, the second is the one I've been using. C:\Users\Andreas\Downloads>ffmpeg -v ffmpeg version 5.0.1-full_build-www.gyan.dev Copyright (c) 2000-2022 th...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hi RESET_9999, When encoding DDP from THD/DTS using your script (ffmpeg) the result is a DDP 5.0(side) channel layout. This layout is missing the LFE (subwoofer) channel. My understanding is that since the goal is to encode DDP 5.1, one can add either the option "-channel_layout 5.1" or &q...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I had a look into the users-guide for the x800m2, and on page 36 of the English language version it says; • The player can support video bit rate up to 40 Mbps 4th bullet point from the bottom of the right hand side column. Is that a limitation to be worried about? Isn't it normal for a modern 4k+HD...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Yes Really? Since the x700 is relatively cheap, maybe people should just buy it and play the dolby vision m2ts files from it instead of going through troubles to create working dolby vision mp4 files? that's what a lot of us here have been doing for months :) The file needs to be remuxed with tsmux...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
To throw in a little detail to the mix. CX can play Dual Track DV MP4 files, but the file has to have been made using mp4muxer v1.0.0. Is there a way to know which one is what version? If you use MediaInfo you can see what is called "Alternate Group", I think it was, set to 1 for both the...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So an oled CX owner on avsforum just confirmed with me that the tv's internal media player couldn't play this DV DL test file properly: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NK71CkSxVqgwqLXaDWuLzcPUIA8XLXEa/view On my C9 it looked fine and played fine. Seems like LG did remove the ability to play dual l...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
But you didn't convert the FEL to MEL as asked right? The pics on the right is from a Dual Track Dual Layer file with FEL? In addition to the original question comparing UHD playback with a FEL to MEL conversion, it would be interesting to compare a FEL to MEL conversion to when only the BL is play...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Could someone please do a comparison video of FEL from any blu ray player with FEL to MEL converted file played through the internal player of CX (or through native plex app)? Or if it's already done, would be grateful if they link it. Thanks in advance :) my camera cannot capture the full dynamics...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I used my Top Gun UHD disc (FEL) as the source, and de-muxed 2 min test snippets of the BL and EL+RPU tracks directly from the m2ts file. I then skipped the encoding step. Sure enough the resulting dual track dual layer mp4 file is played by Plex on my LG CX triggering Dolby Vision, but the colors ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
My findings with latest LG (CX) firmware (3:21.09) 1- Demux layers from a UHD remux (BL , EL+RPU, AC3 Audio*) 2- (OPTIONAL) Reencode the BL layer (ffmpeg x265 & NO CROP !!!) ffmpeg.exe -i UHDREMUX.mkv -c:v libx265 -x265-params "level=5.1:colorprim=bt2020:colormatrix=bt2020nc:transfer=smpte...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hi. When you said dual track files doesn't play, did you mean they didn't play with plex? I heard that internal player now plays DTDL files in mp4 with the latest FW. Could you please check whether its true? Wish LG would release their new update here :( Method to create test files I use the yuseso...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
Back to the Future seems to be a DV FEL release, while LotR seems to be a MEL release according to this thread https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?p=16884278#post16884278. Most players I've read doesn't play nice with FEL. Use your Back to the Future disk as the source, and check out my post he...
