Re: Verbatim 43888 won't read Bluerays after 2015
Well a USB-C port (non-PD) might provide 3A (and should at least provide 1.5A?). I don't know if the things (USB power negotiation whatsoever) work like that but if your computer has a USB-C port, you can try to get a USB-C to USB-A adapter and see if that works better than connecting the drive to a ...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
I attached a screenshot of my drive information.
Doesn't show up (for me). Should have posted the text anyway.

Btw does anyone know if there's any MT1939 drive that can be flashed with MK (or DE or older stock) firmware just for LibreDrive but not UHD? Or is it more like sdftool (I mean ...

Re: Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
Hello. So I have an old title (regular / non-UHD BD) with MKBv37 and this drive that hasn't been inserted with disc with a newer MKB. With the host cert/key provided in KeyDB I've managed to obtain the VUK through libaacs, and I would like to have it added to the KeyDB (if key for such older title ...

Re: Verbatim 43888 won't read Bluerays after 2015
Well sometimes it is mentioned on the cover, but maybe it's a less common thing for western / Hollywood releases.
P.S. btw do you mean like the disc(s) that were recognized can still be recognized after attempting to read some newer discs, or do you mean like after such attempts not even the old ...

Re: Verbatim 43888 won't read Bluerays after 2015
Btw do you know if all the discs "newer than 2015" are BD50 (dual layer) and all otherwise are BD25 (single layer)? Are your collections all regular BD (i.e. non-UHD/4K)? Or by "newer than 2015" you really mean UHD BD?

Re: Newbie assistance needed please
ASUS drives are relabeled LG or Pioneer. You need to post the LibreDrive information from MakeMKV for someone to be able to help you out.

Re: UHD ripping works, but extremely slow
Ah right. Now that I recall I once wanted to dump whatever can be dumped from my Pioneer drive, and IIRC it did stall.
I suppose the firmware dumping / speed setting bits are not the same bits that are involved in "activating" LibreDrive / disabling bus encryption then...
P.S. It's really weird ...

Re: LG WH16NS60 issues
There's no special flasher for OmniDrive firmware. You don't need one.
"SDFTool Flasher", aka the GUI wrapper of sdftool is Windows only. (Maybe it can be made to work through wine but IIRC it's a .NET program so it could be a bit of a hassle -- my wine knowledge is old though.) I think you can use ...

Better post the drive info as text, as the images seem to have problem showing up (at least for me).

Re: Aspect ratio ok, but not full screen
I don't see any image in your post though. Perhaps you need to upload it somewhere else and paste a link.
And at the end of the day, is your "screen" 16:9? And have you tested with movie that is 16:9 itself (and that the DVD is NOT 4:3 letterbox)?
P.S. I haven't remuxed DVD with MakeMKV for quite ...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
I bought a BP50NB40 NB50 based on this guide and it doesn't look like it'll work, SDFtool Flasher gives me an error that it doesn't have the correct platform (MT1959).
Are there recent recommendations for drives that are available in the US and known to work? I took a couple weeks to order this ...

Re: UHD ripping works, but extremely slow
Btw you probably don't need to bother getting 1.17.7 or older. The issue with newer versions affect only non-LibreDrive (perhaps even just some). AFAIK it's nothing "dangerous" anyway.

Re: Flashing LG model BP50NB40-NB52 - A Guide
Well not really sure about macOS. Maybe where makemkvcon resides (when installed) over there is not necessarily a part of PATH. Either way my point was with ./ it's a different instruction and what it does / would happen depends on where you have cd into.

Re: Blu-ray disks play in MakeMKV on one Linux Mint computer but not the other
Actually, can you check "log debug messages" in preference, and then post the content of ~/MakeMKV_log.txt (NOT log messages in the MakeMKV window) as code blocks from both the desktop and laptop after attempting to open a disc in MakeMKV (NOT VLC)? (If it stalls at some stage before you can even ...

Re: Flashing LG model BP50NB40-NB52 - A Guide
Can anyone help me? I'm on 1.18.3 on MacOS as well. I can't even get the disk identifier to run. It's telling me "command not found". Did anyone run into this issue?
Probably because you were erroneously running ./makemkvcon instead of makemkvcon? The guide above is workaround for a problem ...
