Re: General question about discs with multiple PGS files
Sometimes they just dup things for no reason. I have a UHD BD that dup the video track of the whole movie in another M2TS (but without the audio tracks and subtitles). The two video bitstream has been proven to be bit-exact identical. Also maybe some of them are not dups, but like "closed capti...

Re: LG HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH12LS38 suddenly not working with MakeMKV
There have been reports that the latest version doesn't work or work well with non-LibreDrive. Try an older version of MakeMKV such as 1.17.7 and/or 1.17.6 and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Flashing LibreDrives
Appreciate the suggestion MartyMcNuts, Cleaning with a qtip and alcohol has been a big improvement. In windows I can now watch several Bluray disks via VLC and I'm tetsing extracting tracks with MakeMKV. However, in the dedicated Linux box it just stalls 04-18-2026 23:37:53 ARM: INFO: *************...

Re: WH16NS40 Read Issue
How exactly does the issue manifest though? Do you see the BD / UHD BD being recognized in the OS? I wonder if the fact that it can recognize a blank disc really rules out that the blue laser is somewhat dead. Do you have any burned disc that you can test? Or can you afford to burn a disc and read b...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Just found this btw: https://akiba-pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/news/1181351.html. So probably it is really just a BDR-212JBK without a box. But firmware 1.04, it can't be downgraded, right? No at least not without Billy's help. As I said for 12th gen drives the last "safe" version is ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Well what I meant was, I have seen such "unlisted" models for multiple generations, and I myself can't tell whether they are counterfeit or e.g. just some special "corporate" / "bulk" labeled version of a certain model (and even if that's the case, I can't tell for sure...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
*AFAIK* the last "safe" version for 12th gen internal drives should be 1.02. If you meant 1.04 it is a version released after Dec 2022. None of them should have a firmware of version 1.4. Also as per the firmware update download pages (both the Japan one and the international one), there's...

Re: What about the BDR-S11JX?
Hey guys, I'm ordering a BDR-S11JX for a friend of mine, that wanted an internal bluray-drive solution and it ended up with that model - now days there aren't that many choices either, so anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it, and had some thoughts on what kind of drive this ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
To be frank, I myself would be somewhat worried that the drive is some kind of counterfeit (or some other model "re-labeled") with that kind of manufacturing date. Not that I have concrete information confirming that it would be the case though. Just a "hunch" / me being paranoid...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Shouldn't need to crossflash it for UHD since it's the most "premium" 11th gen model, and mike has apparently caught up with even its latest firmware (both "revisions"?) for LibreDrive: PIONEER-BD-RW__BDR-S11JX-1.54-1A867E4C-8801ID72-20230123 PIONEER-BD-RW__BDR-S11JX-1.54-1D7AD49...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Well I'm not 100% sure but I think the bottom line is you should be fine with either a 211UBK or 211EBK, as AFAIK they share the exact same fimware. (There's another "side story" with the 9th and 11th gen: there are two different "revisions" for each generation. I don't really kn...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Well after all these are just "community efforts" from different people, and they might all have a different thought about e.g. what's neat. I think the all you need firmware pack(s) was actually trying to simplify things for people, but I guess sometimes when you do that things could end ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
No, but the drive of your concern should be fine (ripping with MakeMKV / playing with libmmbd which is really also MakeMKV) out of the box with UHD. LibreDrive is just a requirement for UHD ripping. It doesn't mean that all LibreDrive drives come with a firmware with UHD support. One of the reasons ...

Re: Backing up HD-DVD discs in 2026?
You might want to try an older version (something as old as 1.17.6). There have been reports that newer versions have problem getting a non-LibreDrive to work for the case of (regular) Blu-ray, so perhaps the issue affect the case of HD DVD as well. I have basically zero idea about how things work i...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
So the trick was to only flash DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin and everything worked, no more no less, it's a bit hard to understand sometimes in this forum, what you should actually do, and the guide can be a bit misleading i think. And what about the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.04-NM00500-212005061142.bin tha...
