Re: Attempting to flash in macOS
Got rid of the "enc" part of the command line. (My drive being quite new, I expected it to be firmware encrypted.) Viola! Screen Shot 2021-01-08 at 19.06.12.png So, it *IS* possible to firmware flash on a Mac (OS X.13.6), without a virtual/boot camp Windows. For the record, my drive was an...

There is nothing in the linked thread about "Edge." What is that "method?"ShortKatz wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 3:04 pm6. On your new Windows installation open Edge and download all needed things for this method: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 16&t=18873

Re: Cannot Play Blu Ray with VLC
But anyway, for North America, you need to change ONE VLC preference. VLC is based in France. So, Preferences, Show All. Then Input Codecs. Click the Arrow to expand downward. Choose Access Modules. Click on BluRay. If in North America, choose Region A and Save. You can also click if you want your ...

Re: BU40N - Which firmware is best?
Is there any way to extract / dump the stock BW42 firmware from my hp HLDS BU40N drive on a Mac (connected via an external USB3 enclosure) before I flash downgrade it? Is there a real need for the stock firmware? Contact Mike Admin. He may want a copy of that firmware. If he can extract it remotely...

Re: BU40N - Which firmware is best?
The v1.00 is also very good firmware to use with this drive. Version 1.00 supports DVDfab which us a bonus. Asmcom :D Does DVDFab work with 1.03 MK? DVDFab is the APP I use, as all I want is a whole disc copy. (I have no interest in compression, reformatting to a different ratio, etc., which most a...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2020
I have an early macbook pro 2011. I took out the optical drive at the time and replaced it with a 2nd hard drive. Now that i'm backing up my collection, I was thinking of throwing in an internal optical drive. I was looking at the supported drives on p. 1 of this thread and saw the bu40n, a 9.5mm d...

Re: BU40N 1.03 to MK 1.03 - Not sure where to go from here
Even though 1.03 MK is for an LG BU40N and mine is an HP BU40N with a 3.10 firmware? I am not willing to brick the drive on an experiment. And I am unable to save/extract the stock firmware as almost all utilities, instructions, and applications are for Windows/PC.

Re: BU40N 1.03 to MK 1.03 - Not sure where to go from here
I just received a BU40N bare drive which I put into a generic external enclosure. It is connected to a MacBook Pro. The drive reports Manufacturer: hp HLDS; Version: 3.10. From reading, I conclude that this is the BU40N/P (HP) version. Being on a Mac, I cannot use most of the described flashing meth...
