Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Here's a way of finding out if your playback device is processing the FEL or not. FEL DT-DL sample: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PszHwOA5DUfURod87X1o8yjpqX_9JkLM/view?usp=sharing FEL ST-DL sample: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1caOej34Bj-0m9VMbmKHwxS9RlX9fArdV/view?usp=sharing P8 SL RPU sampl...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
If you play BL HDR10 the picture is correct. If you play Dolby Vision Single Layer (only RPU) the picture is as the right side, both on the Bluray player and on the TV. You can´t convert FEL to MEL. I tested the files on my CX. HDR10 looks fine. Both DL & SL look WRONG , supper dark --> EL is n...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
The CX can do TV led Dolby Vision so it has 2 decoders, so no discussion. What is more likely is the second decoder is crippled in firmware for media file playback. Have you tried built in Plex app from NAS? Yep, LG internal player/Plex. Firmware crippled makes sense, sucks, but makes sense. Above ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Of course there is an issue. If you see the white sky is pumping / picture is to dark, the (F)EL is not decoded ! in my opinion the CX can only decode the Metadata (RPU) of DV, not the second HEVC stream . maybe the older LG TV can do, I don´t know... to find out, I uploaded the samples for you. TH...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
According to the list here https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=276448, Lord of the rings is a MEL release. That explains why it plays triggering DV with proper colors for you with just the outlined steps. In my case, as mentioned, I have a FEL release (you can see Top Gun in the same forum p...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I used my Top Gun UHD disc (FEL) as the source, and de-muxed 2 min test snippets of the BL and EL+RPU tracks directly from the m2ts file. I then skipped the encoding step. Sure enough the resulting dual track dual layer mp4 file is played by Plex on my LG CX triggering Dolby Vision, but the colors ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hi mate, I get the Wierd Science fascination into doing this, and we would all like a media player friendly back up solution... but Dolby Vision is about the quality, a 15gb file can not look as good as a75gb file unless you are watching on a 48” supermarket TV. No worries, thats why i left an ( Op...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
My findings with latest LG (CX) firmware (3:21.09) 1- Demux layers from a UHD remux (BL , EL+RPU, AC3 Audio*) 2- (OPTIONAL) Reencode the BL layer (ffmpeg x265 & NO CROP !!!) ffmpeg.exe -i UHDREMUX.mkv -c:v libx265 -x265-params "level=5.1:colorprim=bt2020:colormatrix=bt2020nc:transfer=smpte2...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
For anyone with an LG CX, the new firmware update purportedly allows profile 7 files to be played in the internal player. I'm unable to test this myself for a few weeks since I'm staying away from home. Previously the LG CX could only play 8.1 files. Good news if true because, unlike 8.1, profile 7...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I also have a TV LG OLED55B6V. For the movie The Lord of the Rings. Which Dolby Vision profile is best suited for my TV? 5, 7, 8 or 8.1 Thanks in advance. -Hello: I have found this information: Profile 5 single layer with exclusive support for Dolby Vision Single layer 8.1 profile with HDR10 + Dolb...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
The CX is rumored to have lost dual track mp4 support. Can confirm that, no more Dual track/dual layer mp4 files with CX. LG's dynamic tonemapping is garbage (at least on the C8). Ouch, i thougth the lack of Dolby Vision support could be offset with Dynamic Tonemmaping and it seems its still garbag...

Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
Do you guys think that makemkv can have a Fel to Mel converter build into the program ? That would be awesome. Yes. Would be nice that at some point either MkvToolnix and/or Ffmpeg get proper Dolby Vision support/handling. - Extract EL-RPU can already be done (MkvToolnix or Ffmpeg to name a few) - ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Yep yusepope is quite quiet. Tested all Yusepope files (mp4) on a CX and only one would play and trigger DV, a FEL_To_81.mp4 (BL+RPU only), but it didnt look quite rigth. is it true that BL+EL+RPU offer higher quality as opposed to just BL+RPU? is it true that plain HDR+Dynamic Tonemaping = BL+RPU ?...

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=18602&start=3675#p99984 God bless you, i was still reading page 35... Ok, so LG removed dual-track/dual-layer support ... thats a big shit and im now regreting having sold my old C7 to buy a CX... I just tried some single-track DV .MP4 file...
