This is why btrfs is the best for storing large media collections. It is EXTREMELY easy to add/remove/expand the raid array live online without interruption. One of your old 8TB drives needs to be replaced with some 16TB drives? btrfs replace, bam, done. raid1c3 for metadata, raid6 for data. Works g...
