Re: MakeMKV 1.15.4
Well, that sucks.. but I am very much enjoying my Shield Pro and CX TV otherwise, so.. long as it's not noticeably bad looking or I'm missing out on a lot.. I can deal with it. MKV on DV is still pretty new and while working, still being figured out, so here's hoping. What is known is some problems...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
So following Marty McNuts' method, along with playing through an nVidia Shield TV Pro (2019 model) with the latest version of Plex, I am able to trigger Dolby Vision mode on my LG C9. I still need to sit through a full movie to see if there are any color issues as noted before. One thing to note is ...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
If you're playing it off your TV's internal player, it's not going to work because there's no support for DV in mkv containers. From Marty's steps, after you get the encoded BL hevc file, you can try muxing it into an mp4 container and see if that works. The steps can be found the mp4 thread. Am I ...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
snip Following your steps, I got Atomic Blonde shrunk down from just under 60 GB to 26.3 GB on final product. MediaInfo recognizes that it is a Dolby Vision/HDR10 video. Now is the part that I think is my LG C9 TV being odd. When playing the video, it triggers HDR mode and not Dolby Vision mode (pe...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
You guys just need to buy more storage. All this muxing, shrinking, remuxing, time, stress, electricity is costing you a lot more than another 10TB hard drive. I currently live in an apartment, so I don't have the space (or proper power setup) for a large storage server. Right now, I only have a Sy...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
I doubt Handbrake can be used for UHD as I don't think it can do HDR. In any case, the layers must be separated as only the BL can be re-encoded. What I do is: 1. Rip to folder using MakeMKV. 2. Use NVENCC64 command line to re-encode BL, keeping HDR (and HDR10+ metadata if included). 3. Use TSmuxer...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
You're doing it right, both layers are stored in the single video track. Got it. Thanks! Now, if I want to reduce the overall filesize from ripped from disc size of 48+ GB, can I send the whole MKV file through Handbrake or will I have to separate the layers of the video track and only run the BL t...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
Sorry if I missed it in a previous post, but I'm trying to make sure I'm ripping a UHD with DV right using MakeMKV. I'm using MakeMKV 1.15.3, and I'm ripping Atomic Blonde as a self-lesson on this. In MakeMKV, I see duplicate titles with the exact same setup except the second title doesn't have Chap...
