I read this disc was originally faulty and wondered if anyone knows what to look out for to know I get the correct replacement disc?

I have the disc and it ripped first time without issues. I also see disc's like this every now and again. usually warm water and soap sorts it out.

I do have 2 UHD drives and sometimes just using the other drive sorts it and its not always the same drive that completes the rip.

Yes, they will be. You can use a program called gMKVExtractGUI or if your into command line use mkvextract.exe that is part of mkvtoolnix. This can extract the individual tracks from the container (.mkv).

If you hash those and compare they will be identical.

I've never seen two separate discs fail at the same place. I have two of the drives you have and I have seen discs read in one and not the other and also seen discs just not read at all, but fixed with a replacement disc. Yes, your right. To make it worse the current UK version of Chernobyl is terrible quality. I was about to import the US BD when I noticed the UHD was on the way so waited.

to my knowledge there is no chance of bricking a drive from changing the speed for the drive in the registry settings. I just opened registry editor, went to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MakeMKV, double clicked my drive and added "0=99" without the quotes. This fixed my issues with ...

Had the same issue here but with BTTF 2. Tried downgrading and that did not work. Finally got it to read by removing the speed control (0=99) in the registry. I assume I'm correct in thinking that as long as it ends with success then its been read correctly and I can just take note of any read error...
