Re: LG BU40N -keeps spinning even after reading / ripping operation has completed. How to stop this (aside from ejecting
Thanks. Sorry, to clarify, I posted here since I bought it based on recommendations here for use with MakeMKV, which I have used. This was happening with CloneBD, but I think it happens with MakeMKV too (but have not use MakeMKV for over a month). Pretty sure that even after exiting the program it c...

LG BU40N -keeps spinning even after reading / ripping operation has completed. How to stop this (aside from ejecting)??
I did a search for 'BU40N' and 'spinning' but could not find any hits. When I perform a disc ripping operation (e.g. with one of my UHD original discs), even after the operation has completed (100%), the drive stays in spin up mode / disc keeps spinning. Unless I open the tray, the spinning continue...

Re: LG BU40N 1.00 NOT "friendly" & NOT compatible with 'AnyDVD HD'? confused. Any fw to make LGBU40N work with AnyDVD HD
Update - DVDFab PassKey trial (as an alternative to AnyDVD HD) worked fine with CloneBD to back up my original UHD disc to a BD-R DL (50 GB) and the disc plays great in my home player *. Is there any benefit to trying to getting an UHD burner that works with AnyDVD HD? Seems Passkey (full version, n...

Re: LG BU40N 1.00 NOT "friendly" & NOT compatible with 'AnyDVD HD'? confused. Any fw to make LGBU40N work with AnyDVD HD
I was hoping to get AnyDVD HD working since both products (CloneBD and AnyDVD HD) were, initially at least, developed by the same company. Although that may no longer matter so much now that Redfox has selling rights on AnyDVD (no longer Elaborate Bytes). This was never true and I don't know where ...

Re: LG BU40N 1.00 NOT "friendly" & NOT compatible with 'AnyDVD HD'? confused. Any fw to make LGBU40N work with AnyDVD HD
Obviously MakeMKV works with the drive, which is why it's recommended here. You can also enable LibreDrive on a particular disc, and before ejecting it or power cycling the drive, you can then use ImgBurn or another program to create a protected ISO. Mount that with Virtual CloneDrive and you can u...

That drive is not compatible with AnyDVD at this time. There are not firmware that will make it compatible. Thanks for the confirmation. That is really unfortunate since I specifically bought this drive after reading forum posts because it was recommended. I want to use AnyDVD in conjunction with C...

LG BU40N 1.00 NOT "friendly" & NOT compatible with 'AnyDVD HD'? confused. Any fw to make LGBU40N work with AnyDVD HD?
I have an Archgon MD8107S-U3 UHD burner which I downgraded to LG BU40N 1.00 official firmware (from 1.01). It works fine with MakeMKV for backing up my UHD original Blu Ray discs. BUT I was very disappointed to find that it (LG BU40N), with fw 1.00 at least, is NOT considered a 'friendly' drive afte...

TrueHD 7.1 (Atmos) track on mkv created by makemkv is NOT seen by TsMuxeR. Due to lack of AC3 core retention???
I was able to successfully, for the most part, back up one of my original UHD Blu Ray discs to a BD compliant disc on a BD-R using makemkv, HB and TsMuxeR. The one issue is that TsMuxeR only sees the 5.1 track and not the 7.1 TrueHD Atmos track. I found this comment on github: "tsMuxer (and mpe...

Re: Handbrake not working with UHD Atmos mkv - Alternate tool to shrink MKV to 50 GB so compliant BD (BDMV/CERT folders)
That was part of the original BD function, IIRC, but as they've tacked on "Support for UltraHD Blu-ray (UHD) discs" @ the end of the list since I last tried it, giving the trial a go seemed a worthwhile experiment. YMMV Thanks, let me look into it then. Seems CloneBD only supports unencry...

Re: Handbrake not working with UHD Atmos mkv - Alternate tool to shrink MKV to 50 GB so compliant BD (BDMV/CERT folders)
Haven't used it in a long time, & it's not free (except for a trial period), but CloneBD might be worth a look? Thanks, per their features page, it looks like CloneBD is good for unprotected BD50 to BD25 scenarios, but not my situation of wanting to compress UHD (>50GB) to BD50 and have it BD s...

Re: Handbrake not working with UHD Atmos mkv - Alternate tool to shrink MKV to 50 GB so compliant BD (BDMV/CERT folders)
Your goal is not one I've seen anyone else try for before. Most people just play the digital files because it is less hassle than dealing with discs and probably cheaper in the long run than buying BD-Rs. Getting rid of unskippable previews and annoying menus is a big bonus in my view. I wonder how...

Handbrake not working with UHD Atmos mkv - Alternate tool to shrink MKV to 50 GB so compliant BD (BDMV/CERT folders)
I am relatively new to makemkv and new to transcoding. Hopefully this is the right forum to post this. Goal: I am trying to back up some of my original UHD discs to 50 GB BD-R DL discs so I can play the BD-R and keep the original safe from being scratched and damaged (have some limited edition and o...

Re: Transcode UHD mkv to JUST < 50GB to fit on 50GB BDR-DL: Best app / settings to shrink mkv & (retain DV / HDR)?
The handbrake forum is the place to check for improving your settings. The standard advice, though, is to start with the presets, and move on from there if needed. Keeping HDR is relatively new; you're going to have to work with their nightly builds to do it. Thanks, will do. In the meantime, it ap...

Re: Transcode UHD mkv to JUST < 50GB to fit on 50GB BDR-DL: Best app / settings to shrink mkv & (retain DV / HDR)?
Processing through handbrake is not your best option here, because you're going to lose your DV. Thanks, so that is definitely confirmed then. Appreciate it. Come to think of it, luckily the majority of my UHD collection is not DV, so then I just need some guidance on the optimal Handbrake settings...

Transcode UHD mkv to JUST < 50GB to fit on 50GB BDR-DL: Best app / settings to shrink mkv & (retain DV / HDR)?
Goal: I want to burn backups of some of my original UHD Blu Ray movies on 50GB BD-R DL discs so I have a backup and play that in my Blu Ray player since many of my discs are limited editions / collectibles, out of print etc. and cannot be bought easily, if at all anymore. Since I am burning to 50GB...
