I recently bought the complete Babylon 5 on Blu Ray.

Several discs will not rip with MakeMKV.
S2D4 will not rip at all. S3D2 only one episode will rip - and so on.

Tried on 2 computers each with three different BluRay drives (Toshiba, Verbatim (reskinned Pioneer) and Samsung.

Well that's bizarre! Just tried it for about the 8th time and no error message this time.
The only difference ids I turned on debug logging...

Hi, yes that is ticked.
Where are the logs saved - can't see them in the MakeMKV install folder or in Users\user\appdata\roaming (or local)?

Or do you just mean the on-screen messages in the lower pane?

I have just come across a UHD disc that MakeMKV cannot read and that, with a Verbatim name on it, is shown as a Pioneer BDR-UD04 in the device manager.

Amongst all the posts on Pioneer I couldn't find how to fix this - is there a guide for idiots on how to make this pioneer drive work ...

Purchased the new version as the old beta no longer works.
Immediately found this was a mistake.
A disc I have ripped before with the beta, but that got corrupted and needd to be re-ripped, won't even open in the new PAID version.

It sits for hours (well, longer than I was prepaared to wait) and ...

The port is specified to charge external devices at 3.0A so one would assume it could supply sufficient power for a USB optical drive...


Edit: Quite right though, plugged in another port and Bingo! Looks like I have a faulty port on a new machine.

I have a new PC with Windows 11 so I installed the latest MakeMKV beta (v1.17.3).

However, fresh from install it cannot open most DVDs I try.
It did open one disc but failed to rip:

MakeMKV v1.17.3 win(x64-release) started
Using direct disc access mode
Title #1 was added (18 cell(s), 1:26:15 ...

Generally this seems to be after ripping is finished.
Task Manager doesn't show anything that looks extraordinary.
MakeMKV seems to complete its tasks so I haven't looked at logs for errors - it seems to be affecting something else rather than generating an error but next time I shall look at logs ...

I have been having trouble with the latest beta, in that after I rip a number of DVDs (not a specific number, it has on occasion happened after just 2) I find I cannot switch to another application (Explorer for example, but any other application).
I cannot close MakeMKV either.
If I kill MakeMKV ...
