HOWEVER, I didn't notice one key thing in your logs - the initial error occurs fairly deep into the read, when the disk would be spinning fast, and the drive then goes off-line for a while...

Your drive is having problems reading large areas of the disk, so you should start by trying to clean it.

I did clean it, even several times since this is like day 4 of trying to rip the disk. what else can I do? polishing it or whatever?
