Re: Weird problem with my drive, please help
Unofficial UHD playback is a thing? How so? Please enlighten me. Everything I searched online points that it's basically impossible. You yourself are already doing “unofficial” playback of UHD content as discussed in this thread: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=23427 Which yo...

Re: Running a 4K disc after ripped
Re: the VLC crash. Can't really help you there. Have you done a full disc back-up and removed encryption? Is VLC up to date? I ask as I have never had VLC crash when playing back full discs. I presume I removed encryption if it runs on VLC and other players when I run just the file. Using version 3...

Re: Weird problem with my drive, please help
I tried to flash a simple SD card reader using firmware from the manufacturer's web site (cause it wasn't working on my new Windows 10 PC). Ended up killing the device. So I'm afraid to flash hence why I bought this internal drive already flashed and UHD friendly. Rather have paid 30-40 premium tha...

Re: Weird problem with my drive, please help
Well sorry to tell you but you bought from a person who does not know what they are doing almost all the drives I shipped had no sleep unless they used rippers it was not compatible with. Dammit. The weird thing is he told me he tried to leave one of his drives idle for 2 minutes and that didn't ha...

Re: Running a 4K disc after ripped
You can use VLC. Open the Media dropdown> "Open Disc" > Select Blu-ray > "Browse" button > Navigate to the folder where you back up your discs > Open the folder of the movie you want to play back (you should now see the BDMV, CERTIFICATE & MAKEMKV folders) > Click "Sele...

Weird problem with my drive, please help
So I bought a "UHD friendly" LG WH14NS40 blu ray drive. It is internal and I use a SATA to USB converter. This is the information according to MakeMKV Drive Information OS device name: E: Current profile: BD-ROM Manufacturer: ASMedia Product: ASM105x Revision: 1.02 Firmware date: 2115-12-1...

Re: Running a 4K disc after ripped
First, universally not all current software players support Blu-ray menus. The playback application being used has to support BD menus in order to play them. You have to look into whether the app(s) you are using support it or not. This is the MakeMKV support forum and this app is obviously not a v...

Running a 4K disc after ripped
So I ripped a 4K disc thanks to make MKV and my UHD friendly LG drive. Now I have all the files on my computer. Including the BDMV folder. Now in BDMV/stream I have 00001.m2ts and can play that on VLC and Leawo Blu-ray Player. Movie plays. But how do I load the whole thing including the Menus? With ...

Re: Question about a drive I bought
bah. Thanks all I think I'll stick to ripping and forget about Power DVD and forget about playing officially.
What fools they put all that DRM and shoot themselves in the foot at a time when physical media is probably going to die.

Question about a drive I bought
Well I feel dirty cause I spent just under $110 for an internal LG WH14NS40 blu ray drive plus SATA to USB 3.0 converter. The firmware has been patched so it's "UHD friendly" meaning I can read 4K discs and rip with Make MKV. This seemed like the best compromise without paying a ton of mon...
