Re: LG WH16NS40
Just to clear things up.. I bought 1 of each drive and when I took them apart the controller on the PCB are the same Revision. I have also Replaced a laser from AliExpress with the near or close to the same part number. I used to Hack xbox 360 drives using Via chipset when backing up the DVD Discs ...

Re: LG WH16NS40
I'll take your word for it. It sounds like you wouldn't want to use some of those drives for data backup using BD-XL discs. BTW I got this drive from Amazon Warehouse. It wouldn't surprise me if it was a return from a firmware hacker who wasn't happy with its performance. That said, it seems to be w...

Re: LG WH16NS40
My experience is not wrong. The WH16NS60 1.02 MK firmware on my new WH14NS40 (v1.04, manufactured 2020/02, SVC: NS50) resulted in UHD rips with lots of errors. Switching to the WH14NS40 v1.04 MK firmware resulted in 100% clean rips. Did I do something wrong with the WH16NS60 firmware? it is wrong y...

Re: LG WH16NS40
Hey guys & Gals I have been looking at the hardware on the LG Drives WH16NS40 WH14NS40 ,WH16NS50 , wh16ns60. It Seems all the hardware chips laser have the same Codes. So would this mean that you could convert a low end cheap drive as in WH16NS40 to the wh16ns60 UHD Just by using a Firmware Dri...

Re: Is my ASUS BW-12B1ST dead... like... forever?
Some motherboards require the drive to be on 1 of the first four ports try all four and see if it works Da man! :) That was it. Got it back to the original firmware and working again. Thank you!! UPDATE: reading forums elsewhere it looks like this model was moved to the 1959 platform in 2015. Prior...

Re: Is my ASUS BW-12B1ST dead... like... forever?
So I tried running DosFlash32 (multiple times) from a bootable USB with Windows 10 PE x86 and it shows "no ATAPI device present". I set the SATA mode to IDE in the PC BIOS so I don't think it's related to that. Interestingly, when I run DosFlash32 I see that the drive becomes disabled in D...

Re: Is my ASUS BW-12B1ST dead... like... forever?
Hi Billy. I opened the drive and it's definitely 1959 and says manufactured in early 2014 (see pics). This was a warranty replacement from Asus so maybe they swapped a new control board into an older drive?
Also, my PC is a desktop version with Windows 10 x64.

Is my ASUS BW-12B1ST dead... like... forever?
I have an ASUS BW-12B1ST from 2014 with MediaTek chip 1959...blah that I recently subjected to all sorts of torture trying to get it to read UHDs. Sadly (and not surprisingly) it now will not read any discs. It is however still flashable with specific flasher and firmware (but still doesn't work) so...

Re: WH14NS40
Every desktop drive I have ever gotten with 1.04, WH16NS60 1.02mk has always worked Just to be 100% clear, you are talking about a single flash using that firmware and the modified Asus flasher and it's done? Or is there an intermediate/subsequent flash required? Im not sure what is the most curren...
