Just remember to update it periodically as it's constantly getting new keys added to it at random intervals throughout each day.

The public keydb is a separate mechanism for obtaining keys. MakeMKV has its own process, however, if you drop a KEYDB.cfg file in the data directory (where the tgz files are created that you email in) it can ALSO use that as a source of keys.

If you're on Windows you can use my tool which is a front end for FindVUK. That will allow you to see information about your discs and also keep the KeyDB sync'd and installed where MakeMKV can use it.

Yes it does and I was thankful for that. LOL Mine just arrived.

The vid is not the only thing makemkv needs for discs it doesn't already have a VUK for. There's other data in the discatt.dat that is also obfuscated that makemkv needs to generate a VUK. That's the whole point of the tar.gz dump files that are sent to makemkv. This whole thing is pointless anyway....

You can also validate a Media Key by checking whether MK (x) VID generates a VUK that can successfully decrypt the Unit Keys. This assumes that the TGZ contains a kv.dat to validate the Unit Keys against, of course.
