In addition to the recommendation for Asmcom, in Europe you can also buy a Verbatim 43888, which has a Pioneer UD04 inside it; it should be fully enabled right out of the box.

I figured all Blu-Ray drives would play 4K Blu-Ray discs.
It's no different than BR players. You need a 4K BR player in order to play 4K movies.

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023

Thinking about picking up a second drive for another PC. Any reason to get a Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD over a Archgon MD-8107S-U3-UHD (besides not having to flash)? Reliability? Performance? Software compatibility? The Pioneer only works with MakeMKV and AnyDVD software. The Archgon, if flashed with BU40...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023

No real diff. I haven't looked at AnyDVD for a few years. Try 1.02-MK. If it doesn't work with AnyDVD switch to 1.00 Ok I see a half dozen 1.02s in the mk firmware pack so which do I use? BH16NS60, WH16NS60 or one of the others? WH16NS60, as per the previous response. Flashed and tested. All good. ...

WH16NS60 1.00 or 1.02-MK I thought the MK firmware doesn't work with anything but makemkv? Any performance or capability difference between the two? No real diff. Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2023

I've been using an Asus BW-16D1HT drive (with 3.10 MK firmware) for a while now but I'm tired of dealing with the sleep bug so I want to switch firmware. Which firmware eliminates the sleep bug but also maintains AnyDVD compatibility? WH16NS60 1.00 or 1.02-MK I thought the MK firmware doesn't work ...

The reshaping process recreates the YCbCr image, with supposedly close to 12 bits equivalent info.
How does that work when only profile 4 and 7 are FEL capable?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

in tv-led, the player sends a raw DV signal in an RGB 8 bit container (at this stage the video has purple and green color just like profile 5 look on an sdr screen so its not in bt2020 PQ yet). Then the TV does the tone mapping and the picture, in the end, is 422 12bits bt2020 but only in the TV , ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

My understanding is that although the ShieldTV 2019 is capable (hardware-wise) of TV-led DV, the AndroidTV OS only supports LLDV playback and as a consequence the FEL is ignored. FEL requires two decoders which the Shield (and most other non-blu-ray players) don't have. That is why the Shield canno...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Do you need an ethernet adapter to play 4k remux files without buffering? I assume you mean at least Fast Ethernet or GigE? Fast Ethernet may not be enough with UHD discs spec'd for peaks well above 100mbps. GigE would be the safe bet or at least solid 5g WiFi (which is what I'm using with my Sony ...

...I'll shut up soon.) Please don't..if it really is ignoring RPU appreciate the work getting it fixed. I've sent the sample and a video of the LG's playback to the Infuse developers, and I'll report back if they reply. I worked with them years ago with an SMB issue. They were slow to get it fixed ...
