Re: Question on external drive products
MakeMKV only tries to make an exact copy of what's on a disc. There's no upscaling or conversion or any of that. There are plenty of other programs that can take the output from MakeMKV and do that sort of stuff. Generally speaking, Pioneer drives are considered the best at reading discs. If you rip...

Re: Old version problem. The beta key does not work (?)
Hi, sorry I missed your reply. Thank you for answering. Could somebody please let me know where to buy a key to the Mac version? Is it through this link? https://www.makemkv.com/buy/ I just want to make sure the payment portal is safe. Thanks. Yes, that's the link to buy a license to MakeMKV. The s...

Re: Change FLAC encoder quality to 8
Probably the easiest thing to do is make a new conversion profile with whatever flac settings you want. Conversion Profile On the fly audio conversion .xml files are just text files, editable in your favorite text editor. Your new conversion profile does not have to go back into app.tar. You can put...

Have you tried gently cleaning the disc? Often even brand new discs benefit from cleaning.

Re: File save fails in v1.18.2
What do you mean by 'file save failed errors'? Are you using the same optical drive on both computers?
Do you mean MakeMKV spits out some errors about reading the disc and you don't get a .mkv file as a result? If so, what is the rest of the MakeMKV log say?

Re: Can't rip Shelby American/24 Hour War
If a disc spins endlessly in an optical drive that has a good track record of ripping discs, it generally means the optical drive can't 'see' the disc. That usually means the disc needs to be cleaned. Lots of discs, even brand-new fresh out of the package discs have an almost invisible film on them ...

Re: How Do I Play Region B Blu-Ray Directly From Disc?
So, instead since I want to rip the BD's entire contents what are the steps to do so? And then do I end up with having a folder of sub folders on the HDD that I access via the Oppo's remote? Have you ever done this with an Oppo, Panasonic, Sony or other BD player's remote? On the first screen of Ma...

Re: How Do I Play Region B Blu-Ray Directly From Disc?
Also, I don't have a server; hopefully, later this year. But one reason why I don't like doing DVD-much less BD-ripping is that my PC's system and storage drives are SSDs, and unlike HDDs you permanently lose free space even if you later "delete" any content. Modern operating systems use ...

Haven't you had this conversation before? What software to fully read UHD Blu-ray?
I don't think anything has changed since then.

Re: MakeMKV needs to have its beta key updated periodically.
Why does MakeMKV Beta expire every 60 days, and where can I find the current key when my version has expired? The post directly above yours includes links to where the current beta key can be found as well as a FAQ on the topic. As for why… the obvious answer is to encourage people to actually buy ...

Re: Dump submitted for Wicked: For Good
Bit of a silly question, but I just tried to rip The Wicked: For Good Blu-ray (American, Universal Pictures release) and the dump file that got created was MKB_v82_Wicked-_For_Good_8426.tgz. Note the difference in the last four characters. Does this mean I have a different version that needs to be ...

Re: Doctor Who Season 13 US Release - Newer version of AACS protection
For 4K UHDs, dumps from Pioneer drives can not generally be used for keyDB submissions. For regular blu-rays, dumps from Pioneer drives can be used for keyDB submissions. MakeMKV can use the keys provided by the public keyDB to decrypt discs with any brand of optical drive. Hey dcoke22, one update ...

Re: Blu ray rips stop early
It is the output in the bottom section of the MakeMKV window. If you have debug logging turned on (on the General tab in MakeMKV's preferences) when you start MakeMKV it'll print out where the log file is located on your computer. The log starts fresh every time you start MakeMKV.
