Re: Which to buy? Newbie help.
A new Verbatim 43888 will almost assuredly come with an LG BU40N inside. You'll be able to flash it yourself to enable LibreDrive by following the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide . It is a reasonable drive to start with although it is power hungry, so it needs to be plugged into a properly powerf...

Did MakeMKV successfully create a backup of your disc? If it failed, can you post the MakeMKV log of the failure?

Did you email the dump file to svq@makemkv.com as well?chocotoktok wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 12:59 pmThis disc uses newer version of AACS protection.
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted.

Re: Cross-flashed LG BP50NB40 (NB52) – UHD not reading, Blu-rays are fine
Read the instructions in the first post of the Ultimate UHD drive Guide 2025. I did. Am I missing something? You have the NB52 version of the BP50NB40, right? The Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide says after you flash BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK onto it then you need to flash BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK with bo...

Re: Enabling LibreDrive on ASUS BW-16D1HT
Flashing your drive for LibreDrive support should be pretty straight forward. Just follow the instructions in the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide.
There are links in there to the firmware you need and, if you're on Windows, to the SDF tool to flash the drive.

Re: Cannot open disk, AACS v82: Peanuts 75th Anniversary Ultimate TV Specials Collection
I think I have the latest version (1.18.2) but it doesn't work. Is there a newer version that I'm not seeing? keydb.cfg is a separate disc decryption mechanism that MakeMKV also supports. Public KeyDB Disc Submissions You have to download the keyDB and put it in the right spot in your MakeMKV insta...

Re: GKIDS Evangelion 1.11 and 2.22 corruption while skipping
I don't think it is either a bug in MakeMKV or an issue with your discs. If it only happens when you're skipping around and it only lasts a frame or two, it is probably an artifact of the player trying to display an image before the buffers fully fill and there are enough frames in the pipeline to p...

Re: Advice for new optical drive purchase
For me it is a cost saving measure since I am no longer throwing my remote at the TV in anger at unskippable previews, idiotic menu systems, and laughable FBI & Interpol warnings. :) On a more serious note, I do strongly prefer the interface to a movie or TV show being click the button on my rem...

We don't do piracy here, so no, you have not come to the right place. You should buy your own copy of Knight Rider and use MakeMKV to rip it.Monkeyboy2025 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 24, 2025 7:28 pmYou all might hate me for this, but I'm completely new...

Re: Advice for new optical drive purchase
Most people on this forum are still buying blu-rays and UHDs. LG is still making drives but they're not at as nice as a Pioneer drive. I haven't burned a disc in years. There's almost no reason to actually burn discs these days. Why do you want to burn a disc? If you want to rip a 4K UHD the optical...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2025
Hey guys, Forgive me if this question has been answered elsewhere, but I can't seem to find any documentation on it. Relative n00b here... I'm trying to flash a (supposedly) new ASUS BW-16D1HT, but the tool tells me the drive is not on the MT-1959 platform. This is a new one to me. I actually succe...

Re: Video glitches?
Regular blu-rays and 4K UHD discs contain something called the content hash table. The purpose of the content hash table is to provide data that the player or in this case MakeMKV can use to verify that the content read off the disc is correct. Consequently, as a general rule of thumb, if MakeMKV pr...

Re: Advice for new optical drive purchase
Pioneer no longer makes optical drives unfortunately. https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=173980#p173980 Pioneer drives are the best but finding a legitimate one now is hard. There are lots of counterfeit drives for sale in China - they're not recommended. Asmcom might have some left whe...

Trying MakeMKV's different Opening Modes for DVDs might help.
