Re: New User Here! Having a ripping problem.
Can you copy and paste the log from the bottom of your MakeMKV window from one of the failed attempts into a post here on the forum? That'll help us know what's happening in your case.

Re: How many UHD ripping failures can be considered normal?
For an ASUS or LG desktop drive, that's probably a reasonable failure rate. These days, Pioneer drives are considered the best for ripping. I have 2 Pioneer drives, one LG and one ASUS drive. Both the LG and ASUS drive are from before the COVID pandemic (the quality of LG and ASUS drives seemed to d...

Re: How many UHD ripping failures can be considered normal?
Separate question: a fifth disc gave me a reading error but kept on ripping, and in the end I had the "backup done" message. I assume that means the reading error was overcome and I can trust the resulting file, right? Yes. Generally speaking, if MakeMKV produces a file, it is good. It it...

Re: Cant decrypt 4k UHD
LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted. That's the relevant bit from the log. The optical drive has to support LibreDrive to be able to rip UHDs. Please post the MakeMKV details about your drive. Hopefully the firmware can be flashed to support LibreDri...

Re: Help verifying compatible drives for MakeMKV use (available in Denmark)
I think most Verbatim 43888 models are coming with a BU40N inside them these days. I haven't seen anyone else specifically posting about Denmark, but others in Europe and around the world have been getting BU40N drives. https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=37651 The Ultimate UHD ...

Re: Ripping 'A Discovery of Witches' Bluray Boxset
Ripping TV Shows is always a lot of work. I have a fondness for shows that put the episode title at the beginning of the episode, since that makes life easier.
Not always, but often, DVDCompare.net has exact lengths for each episode, which can make things easier.

Re: Ripping "The Blue Lagoon" German BluRay Disc (Die Blaue Lagune) - 100+ Options in MakeMKV
The DVDCompare.net entry for The Blue Lagoon says the film is 104:46, even for the German version. So you could throw out any that aren't that length. If you make a decrypted backup of the disc (on the first screen of MakeMKV, the icon of the yellow folder with the green arrow), in the <backup>/BDMV...

Re: Ripping "The Blue Lagoon" German BluRay Disc (Die Blaue Lagune) - 100+ Options in MakeMKV
Use the preferred segments and merge them in the correct order with makemkv. Out of curiosity how would you do that? With the linked chapters feature it's also possible to create a file that works like seamless branching on Blu-rays with all different segments in one file. And this too… how would y...

Re: Video File (.mkv) Automatic Naming
The amount of automatic naming depends on your sources. DVDs, not so much. BD and above, more likely, but episode-based disks will still need work. For season disks, if you name the FIRST file (actually, the disk name), that gets copied to the rest, and you can then edit that quickly. But, it's sti...

Re: Flicker Alley BEHIND THE DOOR/BELOW THE SURFACE Fake Playlists
If the disc's menu system isn't using Java, then I think it would imply that the menu has the correct playlist hardcoded into whatever button one presses in the menu to play the movie. Unfortunately, I think all that data is encoded in a binary format on the disc. I don't know enough to know how to ...

Re: Identifying Episodes of Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead
Shows like Breaking Bad, where each episode isn't exactly the same length, can relatively easily be figured out using DVDCompare.net ( https://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=20264 ) Furthermore, if you take a moment to type or copy&paste the names into MakeMKV, the files produced wi...
