You should be emailing those dumps to svq@makemkv.com so a key can be created for MakeMKV's built in hashed key mechanism.

Re: Full sized MiniDVD disc reader?
That looks like a 8 cm DVD that would fit into the smaller circle of a tray loading optical drive or onto the spindle of a mobile optical drive. But you said it won't fit?
Being from France it'll be Region 2.

Re: My Asus drive doesn't want to backup anymore
I don't have much experience with cleaning discs like that. In theory I agree. :) I've only seen Billycar11 suggest the Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol method. Both of you have way more hands-on experience with optical drives than me. To my friends, I'm the weirdo with 5 optical drives in 2025 but that'...

Re: Feature Request: Backup directly to ISO
For every kind of disc my first step is to put the disc in my drive and let MakeMKV create a decrypted backup of the disc. Reading from an optical disc is slow and by creating the backup I can do all the optical disc reading at once without having to pay attention to it. If the backup succeeds I kno...

Re: Full sized MiniDVD disc reader?
Wikipedia suggests that a MiniDVD is the smaller, 8 cm DVD (as opposed to a normal 12 cm DVD). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MiniDVD If the disc is a full 12 cm, maybe it is a CD written with the format of a DVD which Wikipedia calls a cDVD (Compact DVD) or a mini-DVD. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Re: My Asus drive doesn't want to backup anymore
I presume you can hear the disc spin when you insert a disc and close the tray? If other things are working, the disc must be spinning. It might help to try to clean the lasers on your drive (with isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip, dry with a microfiber, don't let it air dry, do it twice) but doing it o...

Re: A24 Movies: How do I rip blu-rays where the title is listed multiple times?
Some discs have playlist obfuscation. It was a tactic some studios used for a time to try to prevent their discs from being ripped as you're about to do. There's probably a thread on the forum most any disc with this that you'll run into. Midsommar Hereditary Blu Ray Playlist Obfuscation There's a c...

Re: Asus BW-16D1X-U
Coopervid made that determination based on the drive platform of MT1959.
ASUS doesn't actually manufacture their own optical drives; they buy a drive from an OEM (LG in this case) and put their own logo and firmware on it.

Re: First Time Ripping, not fully worked?
I'd suggest getting MediaInfo , a free utility to show you details about .mkv files. I find it to be a valuable tool. Since MakeMKV is just copying the bits on the optical disc into a new container, the .mkv file, I'm sure MediaInfo will tell you that the resolution of the video in the .mkv file Mak...

Re: makemkv feature request slow hdd
Personally, I use a local external SSD as my work area when I'm ripping discs and making .mkv files. Only when I'm satisfied with my files do I bother to push them to my NAS. Reasonably sized reasonably fast external SSDs are reasonably priced these days.
