Re: archgon Ultra Slim Portable Drive (Model: MD-8107-U3)
On the mac/linux steps, step number 4 is where I'm getting stuck. How do I copy the sdf.bin and the other drive info into the /tmp folder in the terminal? It doesn't really matter where you store those files as long as you properly reference them on the command line. '/tmp' is a common unix referen...

Copy & paste the output in the bottom of the MakeMKV window into a post here on the forum.

Re: Clarification on what these drives can do
1. Play any region CD albums, and DVD/BR/4K-BR movies, directly on my PC Playing 4K UHDs on a PC directly from a disc is generally only possible by integrating MakeMKV with VLC and playing it that way. There is no longer any official way to play 4K UHDs on a PC. 2. Read blank CDs/DVDs/BRs (includin...

Re: previewing of files?
No, no ability to preview from within MakeMKV. Generally, my workflow is to make a decrypted backup of a disc, open the backup in MakeMKV and create .mkv files from the backup. This lets me use just about any software to play .m2ts files directly from the backup to determine what I want to keep and ...

Generally speaking it is one video stream per .mkv file.

Re: Unsure which method to store/play ripped DVD's and Blu-rays
A few years ago when I started down this path, I did back-of-the-envelope math to determine that 9TB of storage was all I would need to store all my of discs. I purchased 18TB of storage so I had room to grow. Now I'm currently at just over 100TB of storage and growing. This is not an uncommon story...

Re: Problem ripping UHD to external USB HDD?
The internet suggests there are two front ports on an Intel NUC8i7, one is orange with 'charging support' and one is blue. Does the failure happen on both ports? There's also back panel ports, including a back panel Thunderbolt 3, Type C connector. That Type C connector on the back is undoubtedly us...

Re: Problem ripping UHD to external USB HDD?
I've occasionally seen other posts on this forum about failures when the output folder is on an external drive. It is not very wide spread, but it does occasionally seem to happen. Personally, I rip everything to an external drive and have zero issues with it. My guess is it has something to do with...

Re: Unsure which method to store/play ripped DVD's and Blu-rays
.mkv files can be very useful. They can easily contain more than one audio track and more than one subtitle track. It would be possible to rip your DVDs, blu-rays, etc to .mkv files with all the audio tracks and subtitle tracks you'd like. The audio & video in the .mkv files that MakeMKV produc...

Re: MakeMKV not seeming to see a movie/tv episode when it scans the disk
If the discs in question are DVDs, you could try the different opening modes for DVDs. If that doesn't work, you could try making a decrypted backup of the disc and then opening that backup with the MKVToolNix GUI and creating .mkv files from there. In MakeMKV, to make a decrypted backup, on the fir...
