Do you have expert mode turned on? Are you selecting which audio tracks you want to rip on your blu-rays?

Re: Too many files

Those links from jinx100 are good ones to read. I'll just add a bit of high level context. Blu-rays have this notion of 'seamless branching'. What that means is a blu-ray player can start playing a new video file when the current one ends without the viewer noticing the switch to a new file. This fe...

Re: John Wick 3 Parabellum Amazon 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray + Digital

Some folks posted segment maps in there of what was the correct title for them. Were none of those the right one for you? In any case, I'm sure you know that if you make a decrypted backup, you can play individual segments (in the BDMV/STREAM folder) with VLC or MPV. In other places on the forum the...

I'll check it out and see how complicated it seems.
Sorry for being clueless, but where is the guide to flashing it? Is it just the first post in this thread?
Yep, first post in this thread.

Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00000.m2ts' at offset '10862131200' That's the 'classic' drive-having-trouble-reading-the-disc error, often because the disc is dirty. As frustrating as it is, it is progress. :) If you're experiencing r...

Re: Using for both MakeMKV & Network Streaming (Infuse/Plex)

I think Infuse works with profile 5 DV. That's the same DV profile that the streaming services use. The DV that's on UHDs is profile 7 which the AppleTV doesn't support. Most streaming box players don't support it. There are huge threads on this forum about converting UHD rips into a format that wor...

Re: John Wick 3 Parabellum Amazon 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray + Digital

Have you read through the John Wick 3 post? https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20362 John Wick 3 is from Lionsgate, which often uses 'playlist obfuscation' to make ripping more complicated. If you have Java installed, MakeMKV tries to choose the correct movie on discs with all t...

Re: Trying to understand one error issue

MakeMKV's goal is to make an exact and correct copy of the data on a DVD or blu-ray or UHD. Those discs have checksum data that MakeMKV uses to verify it is working as intended. You're correct that most players skip over errors and keep going, even if it means your show gets mangled for a moment whi...

Re: No Disc. HELP!

Generally speaking, MakeMKV needs the optical drive's firmware to be flashed to support LibreDrive to be able to rip a UHD. UHDs have a more complicated encryption scheme than regular blu-rays. The LibreDrive firmware makes it possible for MakeMKV to bypass a bunch of it and rip the movie. This firm...

Re: Monterey and MakeMKV 1.15.2

Same here, cannot rip anything now. All copyright protection errors. Sadly, frustrating. Anyone have a work around or know a timeline for a new version of MakeMKV that will resolve this issue. Are you running a version of MakeMKV with Monterey support? Personally, I have not installed it yet… I'm s...

Before I posted the first reply I actually checked the version and didn't see anything mentioned about Monterey, I should've still installed the new release. Thank you https://www.makemkv.com/download/ <-- It is fairly easy to see the release notes for the last few versions on that page. There's th...

Re: MakeMKV successfully reading blu-ray, fails ripping, then disk cannot be read again.

Try rebooting your computer and completely unplugging/removing power from your optical drive. There's a tiny computer inside your optical drive that runs the drive's firmware. Sometimes it gets in a weird state and the drive doesn't seem to work. The only real way to reboot that tiny computer is to ...

To go along with Woodstock's examples… here's an example of making a backup of a blu-ray: MakeMKV v1.16.4 darwin(x64-release) started Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as /Users/uname/MakeMKV_log.txt Optical drive "BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH16NS60 1.02d" opened in OS access mode. Using...

Re: Monterey and MakeMKV 1.15.2

The most recent version of MakeMKV is 1.16.5, released at the beginning of the month. Mac OS Monterey support landed in 1.16.4 from July. The first thing to try is updating to the latest version of MakeMKV.
