Re: John Wick 2014 4K
I am a MakeMKV newbie. I just encountered the issue that I think is under discussion here... trying to rip "John Wick" from a disk that's said to be: "4KUltraHD, BluRay, Digital HD". All I wanted was the BluRay (1920x1080). There were over 200 titles listed, they were all pre-se...

Re: VLC Player: Keystrokes for Zoom?
MPV has a decent slow motion/high speed capability that I use with some regularity. The documentation suggests there's a video zoom, but I've never tried it.

Re: Picture-in-Picture Tracks
Hello, sorry to resurrect an older topic but this is the top Google hit for this topic and I feel like it's almost giving me the information I need. I read to backup the disc with MakeMKV, then bring the playlist into MKVmerge. And I see MKVmerge is part of MKVToolNix. But when I backed up my disc ...
Re: UHD FAQ
Hello Mike, I tried to rip the Titanic 4K UHD Blu-ray with MakeMKV v1.18.1. My drive is a Pioneer BDR-UDD4 with LibreDrive enabled. MakeMKV generated a .tgz file because it couldn't decrypt the disc. Here is the attached file: MKB20_77_Titanic_ECB3.tgz Thanks in advance for your help! MKB20_v77_Tit...

Re: Combining multiple titles to one movie.mkv file
I have the movie Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) which is too big to fit on a single disc, consequently, I have two .mkv files that make up the entire movie. I do most of my movie watching via Plex. Plex has a feature that allows for a movie to be split across multiple files. ( https://support.p...

Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00020.m2ts' at offset '20402860032' That message means the optical drive was unable to correctly read a spot on that disc. The standard advice is to gently clean the disc and try again. Sometimes, even b...

Re: Very New but not a rookie
I don't think you've flashed your drive to the correct end state for ripping. The Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide , in the 'Recommended Firmware to flash for MakeMKV' section says: BP50NB40 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK then to > BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK It seems you're half-way done with flashing.

Re: Changing mkv track header info result - unplayable
I'm going to resurrect this thread. I have found I can change the name of the audio channels without any problem. However, if I add the 'Commentary Track' element (flag) to ANY track, the resultant MKV file will not play in anything other than VLC. IMO, VLC isn't the end-all player. If none of the ...

Re: Cannot write blu ray after decoding
The very last page on MakeMKV is not the page it should be instead of the normal one there is a page stating there is no soundtrack available for the file. I’m sorry if this not clear but is what I’m seeing thanks MakeMKV does not play videos. Are you trying to use Windows Media Player with a .mkv ...

Re: The Rules of the Game UHD
MakeMKV is just going to copy what is on the disc into a .mkv file. It would be interesting to see what MediaInfo shows about the resulting .mkv file. Here's an example of the video section from a 4K UHD that has HDR10: Video ID : 1 ID in the original source medium : 4113 (0x1011) Format : HEVC Form...

Re: Forced subtitles
I do as DukeFleed suggests. I choose to rip both the movie and any 'DVD extras' that are on the disc (like deleted scenes or making-of documentaries). I often end up with multiple .mkv files from a single disc, but usually only one .mkv file is the movie. Occasionally a disc will have two versions o...

Re: Forced subtitles
Make a decrypted backup of the disc and a MKV file for every disc? Why would anyone want to do this, this would double the space needed for a movie collection, correct? I don't keep the backup folder; I only keep the resulting .mkv files. Making the decrypted backup allows me to separate the readin...
