When MakeMKV produces a .mkv file all it is doing is repackaging a title into a single file. It is not compressing or changing the quality.

I wonder, did MakeMKV produce a firmware dump file? If it did, it would be in the MakeMKV data directory. The General tab of MakeMKV's preferences lists the location of the data directory.

At the moment, AACS v82 works more like a 4K UHD blu-ray than a regular blu-ray. As such, decryption keys need to be generated for each AACS v82 title just like 4K UHDs. MakeMKV does not automatically update the public keydb.

MakeMKV does automatically download hashed keys when they're needed. Folks have to email the dump files to svq@makemkv.com for hashed keys to be created.
