Re: Recent discs are split with multiple M2TS.

The few times I've needed to extract subtitles, I've always done it from a .mkv file and used the MKVToolNix tools. MakeMKV assembles multiple .m2ts files into a single .mkv file. There are others on this forum who know a lot more about subtitles than I do. If they choose to comment, they'll probabl...

Re: Recent discs are split with multiple M2TS.

Blu-rays (including UHDs) support seamless branching. As such, it is relatively common for a single title (aka .mpls) to be comprised of multiple .m2ts files.

Are you trying to understand seamless branching or are you asking a different question?

Re: Looking for Pioneer drives

I find Amazon to be a terrible place to try to learn anything about products. Europe https://pioneer-blurayodd.eu North America https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Computer/Computer+Drives At a quick glance, the XS are slot loading drives while the XD are top loading drives. You could also get a...

Re: makemkvcon not processing the correct title ID

I don't use MakeMKV on Windows so I'm taking a shot in the dark. Is there a makemkvcon executable? On macOS (and I'm pretty sure on Linux), the makemkv executable is the GUI and makemkvcon is the headless bit that does the work. All of your examples show calling makemkv64.exe. Is that the GUI part o...

Re: Converting DTS-HD MA or ripping the same as LPCM

My post prior to this one has the conversion profile I have used to convert to LPCM.

You have to create the .xml file, name it correctly and put it in the right spot on your filesystem.

Re: Converting DTS-HD MA or ripping the same as LPCM

Here's a random blu-ray backup I happened to have handy. The DTS-HD MA audio: Audio #1 ID : 2 ID in the original source medium : 4352 (0x1100) Format : DTS XLL Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Commercial name : DTS-HD Master Audio Codec ID : A_DTS Duration : 1 h 39 min Bit rate mode : Variable ...

Re: Converting DTS-HD MA or ripping the same as LPCM

Even if you don't convert the audio into FLAC or LPCM, you'll get two audio tracks, a DTS-HD MA track and a regular DTS track or a TrueHD track and a AC-3 track. https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo is handy tool for looking at that stuff. (Also available to install via Homebrew on macOS.) For example...

Re: Purchasing bd drive advice for archive / makemkv (late 2022)

Hopefully you've seen the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide post with the list of recommended drives. I know your drive will be external, but you can also consider a regular internal drive and put it in an external case. I have 3 'internal' drives on my desk in external enclosures connected to my c...

Re: Converting DTS-HD MA or ripping the same as LPCM

The lossless audio formats DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD both have this notion of a 'lossy core' that's used as a fallback mechanism for playback systems that can't process their respective lossless audio stream. MakeMKV splits the lossy core out into its own track. It does this by default re...

Re: Converting DTS-HD MA or ripping the same as LPCM

Does it have to be LPCM or would FLAC work? I ask because the FLAC conversion profile is built in by default, making it easy to do on-the-fly audio conversions . In any case, you need to Export Mode enabled in MakeMKV. (MakeMKV Preferences -> General Tab -> Expert Mode checkbox) Then, when you've go...

Re: Incredibles 2. What's the correct one

As Woodstock said, most Disney and Pixar movies have multiple versions on the disc. Usually the opening and closing credits are in different languages. On blu-rays, it is relatively easy to make a decrypted backup of a movie and figure out which title is which. In North America, usually the title '0...

Your log in the first post suggests you are opening a file on your hard drive, not the optical disc. How was this file created?

Have you tried power cycling your optical drive? I'm not running Ventura, so this is just a guess.
