Re: makemkv feature request slow hdd

Personally, I use a local external SSD as my work area when I'm ripping discs and making .mkv files. Only when I'm satisfied with my files do I bother to push them to my NAS. Reasonably sized reasonably fast external SSDs are reasonably priced these days.

Re: WALL·E Criterion

Submitted where? I'm a bit new here, so all I see are folks saying they submitted, but without a link to see what files folks actually ripped. Read the hashed keys section of the UHD FAQ . People are submitting dumps MakeMKV automatically produces when a hashed key for a disc is not available to do...

Re: PGS Subtitle Extraction / Resync

I wonder if it would be easier to download French .srt subtitles for the movie in question? Many playback systems support .srt subtitles as a sidecar file in the same directory as the .mkv file containing the movie.

Re: How The Grinch Stole Christmas 4K Dump Summited

Usually when people make a post like that it means they've emailed the dump file MakeMKV has produced to svq@makemkv.com so a hashed key can be made available. Those posts are even more helpful if they include the name of the dump file they submitted. The hashed keys section of the UHD FAQ has more ...

I did end up getting a .tgz file submitted to the e-mail, the variant at the end was F421, not F420. That could be the issue?

I simpy don't know how to use the keyDB. I downloaded the database but Couldn't open it. Just tried backing it up again and still doesn't work The file you downloaded should've been a .zip file. Inside that zip file should be one big text file. … Also please advise exactly where to save the keydb.c...

Re: Convert MKV DTS to AC3

Regarding Plex and PGS subtitles, it depends on the capabilities of the client as wmcclain's Grok output indicates. I use the Plex app on an AppleTV 4K and it displays them using Direct Play (without transcoding).

I'm brand new to the Forum, I've ripped many discs but I can't rip Lethal Weapon. Sorry, I'm a complete novice but how do I get the key and apply it?
Are you trying to rip the 4K UHD of Lethal Weapon? What is MakeMKV telling you? Can you post the log?

Re: "Fatal Error" after updating iMac

In 2023, I purchased MakeMKV permanently (for my iMac) for ripping blurays. This week, I made major updates to my iMac. Now, when I try to open MakeMKV, I get a message saying "Fatal Error." What is going on? What should I do? Thanks. What updates did you do? And what version of MakeMKV a...

Re: UHD Playback solutions - what is yours?

My minimum title length is set to 15 seconds I think. I generally grab all the useful content from a disc, like any behind-the-scenes stuff or deleted scenes and the like. Plex has a decent way to surface those on a movie's landing page making them easy to access and watch. It is a little extra work...
