Re: unable to load blu ray disc

Does your drive work with other blu-rays but just not a particular disc? If so, that would suggest gently cleaning the problematic disc.

Re: Alien: Romulus Dump Submitted

How long does this process normally take? Am I right to assume that only one person has to submit the TGZ file or should I do it as well? If your dump file has a different name than what people have already submitted, then you should submit your dump file as well. If your dump file is the exact sam...

Re: Getting Started (macOS)

You need an optical drive of course.

The default settings of MakeMKV should be a reasonable place to start. Most people turn on 'Expert Mode' on the General tab in preferences.

And Sequoia's security settings will make things unnecessarily hard. Gatekeeper in macOS X 15 Sequoia

Re: Struggling to read UHD on BU40N

It seems The Others (2001) is a triple-layer BD-100 disc. Those are the hardest to read. Maybe your other discs are only double-layer BD-66 discs. Maybe the manufacturing quality of this troublesome disc isn't as high as your other discs. Maybe any number of things. I usually sum it up to people by ...

Re: Struggling to read UHD on BU40N

If you put the firmware from LG on the drive, it will no longer be able to rip UHDs. At that point, you'd have to flash it again with LibreDrive enabled firmware. I don't think changing the firmware will help you. The second bit about clearing the cache, etc. doesn't really apply to what you're doin...

Re: Flashing firmware on a Mac for LibreDrive

I'm stuck on the "BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK with bootloader/full flash" step. It is hopefully as simple as a different phrase in the terminal command, but I've read through a lot of these threads and if it's in there, I overlooked it. If you look at the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide , in ...

Re: Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD drive...any other place to get?

MartyMcNuts will ship a drive to Singapore I think, but I don't think he has any slot loading drives. https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=18747 If you're stuck on a slot loading, LibreDrive enabled optical drive, I think Asmcom might be the only supplier. Even though their new w...

Re: Backup was fine but the rip from said backup has a bunch of debug codes.

I use a similar workflow to you and I occasionally get some DEBUG codes in the logs. I've never noticed them to be a problem so I don't worry about them.

MakeMKV is usually pretty clear when there's some kind of real error. DEBUG codes in the log are merely informational for the developer of MakeMKV.

Re: does it make any difference whether Blu-Rays are backed up with libredrive enabled drives or non-libredrive drives?

I think they should be the same.

LibreDrive is required to be able to rip UHDs. If your non-LibreDrive optical drive works with MakeMKV, it should be fine for most DVDs and regular blu-rays.

Re: New TSST D500 DVD Reader spits out every DVD disc

The Y-cable that comes with the drive seems to be for allowing one of two kinds of connections, not for adding extra power. A Y-cable like this one: https://www.amazon.nl/CY-USB3-0-gegevens-USB2-0-voeding-mannelijk-micro-USB/dp/B0C1WNPZ16?th=1 is the more traditional kind that allows for extra power...

Re: suddenly makemkvcon stuck?

I don't use MakeMKV on Linux, so I'm speculating a bit. But the LG and ASUS drives sometimes get confused and seemingly the only way to bring them back is to power cycle the drive. In my case, the drives are external in a powered enclosure on my desk, so all I have to do is reach behind them, flip t...

Re: Why has make MKV stopped working with Mac?

Are you using the same optical drive on both your Mac and your Windows computer or does each computer have a separate optical drive?

And does your Mac have this behavior with 1 particular disc or with all discs that you try?

Hi, I'm wondering why is make MKV not working anymore with Mac?
It is working on my Mac. In fact, it is running in the background as I type this.

What is happening on your Mac?

Re: New TSST D500 DVD Reader spits out every DVD disc

I don't have any experience with the optical drives you're using, so I'm just speculating. However, my guess is MakeMKV makes some general assumptions about how to interact with optical drives. The current crop of popular drives gets a lot of testing. Older and more obscure products, like TSST drive...

What was the name of the dump file you emailed in? Posting the name of the file helps others know if they need to email their dump in as well.
