Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
I tried looking through the forum but didn’t find an answer. I’m trying to flash using a Mac and it says to only use 1.17.7 for Linux but I was a bit confused on the wording of that was also true for Mac. 1.17.7 keeps getting a fatal error on MacOS Tahoe. You can use current MakeMKV to flash on mac...

Re: Issues with "Number 23" DVD
Messages like this:
Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/VIDEO_TS/VTS_04_1.VOB' at offset '0'
mean the optical drive is having trouble reading part of the disc. The standard advice is to gently clean the disc and try again.

Re: Locking source device when using multiple drives/instances of the program.
In MakeMKV's preferences, on the IO tab, check "Ask for single drive mode". Restart MakeMKV and it'll ask you which drive to lock that instance of MakeMKV to.

Re: Feature Request - Language Selection
Personally, I have my preferred language set to none and I select audio tracks manually on every disc.
However, MakeMKV does have a way to influence the default track selection process. Changing default track selection

Re: Unable to rip disks to Truenas server on the network
Personally, my workflow is to work on a local SSD-based scratch space and push my output to my NAS after I'm finished with it. Lots of users on the forum seem to set MakeMKV's output location to a mounted shared folder on their NAS however. In MakeMKV, when you're picking an output location can you ...

Re: Problems w/1st rip/backup (DVD content)
MacOS has settings to control what it does when you insert a DVD or a CD. For video DVDs I have mine set to 'ignore' so the DVD app doesn't start. Probably by default it is set to open the DVD app. Choose what your Mac does when you insert a CD or DVD Please post MakeMKV's log output. It is easier f...

Re: Unable to rip disks to Truenas server on the network
If you take MakeMKV out of the equation, can you copy a file to your NAS via the same shared folder you're trying to use with MakeMKV?

Did you also email that dump to svq@makemkv.com so a hashed key can also be made?

Re: Issues with Tom and Jerry Anthology
I don't have that blu-ray so I'm just speculating. It looks like MakeMKV skipped every title on that disc because they're all less than 600 seconds (aka 10 minutes). What happens if you adjust your settings to a smaller minimum time?

Re: Fedora, Flatpack and flashing drives......
MakeMKV on MacOS and Windows ships with an embedded version of ffmpeg so MakeMKV can do on-the-fly audio conversions if the user picks a profile to do that. On Linux it uses whatever version of ffmpeg is on the system. Regarding Handbrake, you can use whatever version you like; there's no link betwe...

Re: Issues with Tom and Jerry Anthology
Have you tried gently cleaning the disc?
If on Windows it is often recommended to let the OS see the disc first then open MakeMKV.
