well in windows you just identify by the drive letter in singe drive mode
Ya and I try to do that but thats not shown once you start a RIP so its still hard to identify. Would be a lot easer to make the display name slightly different.

Is it possible to change the name of a drive?

Hey guys, I have a few UHD drives that I use to rip blurays with. I flashed 2 of them with the same FW because it was the only recommended one on the downloads page. As a result they both show up as the same drive in the MakeMKV dropdown list. Is it possible to change and or choose the name of the d...

Re: LG WH16NS40 1.05 RMA Drive not flashing

I feel dumb. Thanks for clearing this up.

At this point do i need to downgrade the FW to something like 1.02 in order to rip 4K blurays or will the current FW do it?

I just realized that this error message is popping up for the SDFTool.

Not sure if this has anything to do with the drive not flashing. Is there another flasher i could test? If so can you link me to it?

LG WH16NS40 1.05 RMA Drive not flashing

Hey guys, I just sent my WH16NS40 drive out to LG for RMA work and received a new (refurbished I'm sure) drive in the mail from them. The new drive has a manufacturing date of December 2020. Its current FW is: HM-DT-ST_BD-RE__WH16NS40_1.05_212005061440_KZNKCOB3944 I can't get this drive to flash int...

Re: Probably need to buy another drive...

I ended up calling Alex at the info in the link below and purchasing an ASUS BW-16D1HT from him already flashed. https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=17829 I have flashed 3 of my own drives but wanted his advice on which drive to get since I wasn't happy with the LG drives so I d...

Re: Probably need to buy another drive...

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention in the OP that the drive needs to fit into an 5.25" bay. I see that drive is slimmer than the standard 5.25" bay. Is there some sort of adaptor that it fits in to make that work? What is the speed of the drive compared to the WH16 drives that i alr...

Probably need to buy another drive...

Hey guys! I have 1 LG WH14NS40 drive and 2 LG WH16NS40 drives in the same computer all flashed to accept 4k disks and all were working properly until recently. Over the last few weeks, I have noticed that my newest WH16NS40 drive stopped showing up in windows. I rebooted the computer, changed out th...

If it completes successfully, there usually would be no reason to submit it.

MakeMKV will generate a .tgz file if the version of AACS is higher than any previous disk. And you can tell it to always generate a .tgz for disks with BD+ protection.
I appreciate the response. Thanks!

.TGZ Files for movies that complete successfully

Hey guys, Just a quick question. I use MakeMKV all the time and want to provide as much info that would help improve the program as possible. I am familiar with the procedure of submitting the .tgz file to MakeMKV when a movie wont RIP (usually a UHD Disk) but occasionally MakeMKV will generate a .t...

Welcome here! You won't get an email response, but the turnaround can often be pretty quick - just try again, and be sure to have "Enable Internet access" selected in Preferences. Hey I appreciate the info. I tried the disks again this morning and they worked! Quick turn around considerin...

Did you get this to work? 1/2 the time windows doesn't even see these discs.
I ended up returning the disks to amazon and getting the season digitally from my brother.
